On June 20 1994, horrified New Zealanders awoke to the news of the Bain
family murders. Five people had been shot as they lay sleeping. David Bain,
23 at the time was subsquently found guilty of killing his family and
imprisioned but has always maintained his innocence.
He's had many many supporters through the years stand by him and just last
week the Privy Council orders a retrial which may or may not go ahead due to
miscarriage of justice.

This is my country,
The land that begat me,
These windy spaces
Are surely my own.
And those who toil here
In the sweat of their faces
Are flesh of my flesh
And bone of my bone.
