PHOENIX (AP) — Del Flanagan, once the No. 2-ranked welterweight in the world,
died Friday from complications of a heart attack, his wife said. He was 75.
Flanagan defeated several reigning and former world champions in nontitle
fights. He was the No. 2-ranked welterweight in the world in the 1950s,
retiring in 1964 with a record of 105 wins, 22 losses, two draws and one
no-decision.
After moving with his family to Phoenix in 1984, Flanagan raised Arabian
horses.

John White
HONOLULU (AP) — John White, founder of Hawaii's largest food-distribution
organization and one of the top charities in the state, died Dec. 19, his wife
said. He was 65.
White came to Hawaii to pursue a doctorate, but he dropped his studies to start
the Hawaii Foodbank in 1983.
The Foodbank distributes more than 8.5 million pounds of food each year to 245
charitable agencies on Oahu. The Foodbank also distributes to food banks on the
Big Island, Maui and Kauai.
