Surgeon Rear-Admiral William Ivon Norman Forrest, CB, Director of
Naval Dental Services, Ministry of Defence, 1968-71; died at
Petersfield Hospital, Hampshire, 8 July, 2002, aged 88.

He was born 8 June, 1914, son of Lieut. James Forrest, and was
educated at Christ's Hospital.

Career: Guy's Hospital, 1931-36. LDS, RCS. Dental House Surgeon, Guy's
Hospital, 1936-37. In the Royal Navy, he was Surgeon Lieutenant
(Dentistry) 1937; Surgeon Lieutenant Commander (D), 1943; Surgeon
Comnmander (D), 1950; Surgeon Captain (D), 1960;; Surgeon Rear-Admiral
(D), 1968. Consultant in Dental Surgery, 1968, &c.

Forrest, who lived in retirement at Petersfield, was appointed CB in
1970.

He married in 1942, Mary Margaret McMordie Black, by whom he had three
sons, John, Robin and Peter. His wife died in 1996.

The funeral service takes place at Holy Trinity Church, Blendworth,
Horndean, Hampshire, 19 July, 2002, at 3.30 p.m.
