Jane Foller Allan, a former Washington DC area resident who exhibited
her acrylic paintings at the Chevy Chase [Maryland] Women's Club and
other local venues, died of respiratory failure April 26, 2003, at a
nursing home on St. Simons Island, Georgia, at the age of 89.
Mrs. Allen lived on the island along the Georgia coast since 1995, was
born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
where she attended what is now Carnegie Mellon University.
She came to Washington DC in the mid-1930s and lived in the District
for some time before resettling in Bethesda, Maryland, and later Chevy
Chase, Maryland. Over the years, she created original artwork --
landscapes and still lifes -- in her home studio.
She was a member of the Chevy Chase Women's Club and St. John's
Episcopal Church in Bethesda.
