Linda L. Hsieh, Artist And Administrative Assistant, 85

Linda L. Hsieh, a former administrative assistant with the Federation
of American Societies for Experimental Biology who also was an artist,
died January 3, 2004, at her daughter's home in Ashton after a stroke,
at the age of 85.

Mrs. Hsieh was born in China and lived in Taiwan after the communist
revolution. She settled in Washington after immigrating to this
country with her husband and children in 1955.

She worked for FASEB, a coalition of independent biomedical research
associations, for about 10 years until 1975. She then took up painting
by taking lessons with the art group of the Welcome to Washington
International Club.

She also studied under artist Frank Wright at George Washington
University.

A watercolorist, her paintings have been shown in art exhibits at
George Washington University Hospital.

She was a member of the Washington Watercolor Society, the Rockville
[Maryland] Art League and the Montgomery County Art Association.

Her husband of 62 years, Dr. Ching Yao Hsieh, died in 2001.
