Dale Roberts, 70, of Versailles, died Friday,
Oct. 8, 2010, at the University of Kentucky
A.B. Chandler Medical Center Hospital.

Born in Owenton, he was the son of Julia E
(Etherington) Roberts and the late Clarence
A. Roberts.

He was a graduate of Versailles High School
and served in the U.S. Naval Air Forces for
4-� years.

He was a professional baseball player, playing
in the Major Leagues as a relief pitcher, first
for the New York Yankees and then the Atlanta
Braves. He then worked as an industrial
electrician for Texas Instruments, Raymond
Corporation, OSRAM Sylvania, and United
L-N Glass.

Survivors include a daughter, Michele Yvonne
(Rick) Deaton, Nicholasville; two
granddaughters, Kayla Gayle and Whitney
Nicole Deaton, Nicholasville; a sister, Eleanor
L (Henry) Smith, Versailles; three brothers,
David A Roberts, Nashville, Tenn., Kenneth
C (Billie Jo) Roberts, Versailles, and Glenn
E (Melissa) Roberts, Lawrenceburg; and
several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Private services were held at Clark Funeral
Home, Rose Hill, on Sunday, Oct. 10.
