Singer and reality TV star Ray J was hospitalized for "exhaustion and
jet lag" early Monday morning, following the 2012 Billboard Music
Awards.
TMZ reports that Ray J, whose given name is William Ray Norwood, was
found in his hotel room appearing "out of it" and unable to get out of
bed. The disoriented star was taken to a hospital for immediate
attention and is still in the hospital's care.
The website reports that there were several causes for the singer's
crash. Ray J, who dated Whitney Houston on-and-off before her death in
February, reportedly had a run-in with Houston's sister-in-law, Pat
Houston, before the fallen singer's tribute at the awards show. TMZ
revealed that Houston reportedly asked security to remove Ray J from
his seat after the singer's family was asked to move to the same area.
He was hospitalized early Monday morning, for "exhaustion and jet lag.
The site also reports that Ray J had attended the awards show in Las
Vegas just hours after returning from a whirlwind trip to China. After
the event, Ray J co-hosted a party with Sophie Monk for the brand
Prince Reigns at the Rio Las Vegas Casino. The singer's sister,
Brandy, appeared at the event, as did Three 6 Mafia member DJ Paul.
Ray J's rep has released a statement about his hospitalization.
"Ray J has been in a Las Vegas area hospital since the early morning
of Monday and will remain there for treatment for exhaustion and jet
lag," the statement reads. "Ray J had just returned to the US from a
quick 32-hour round trip from China where he performed a concert and
had meetings regarding a new business. Upon landing, he immediately
drove four hours to Las Vegas for the two events."
In addition to being Brandy's sister and Houston's ex, Ray J is also
known for co-starring in Kim Kardashian's sex tape as well as for his
VH1 dating competition series, "For the Love of Ray J."

You know, it's funny. You rarely see classical, jazz, gospel, or world musicians being hospitalized for exhaustion despite their being on tour 300 days or more a year. It's always the big popular genres - Britpop, rap, rock.
