Elizabeth A. Myhill Marymount University Professor

Elizabeth A. Myhill, 49, a professor in the science department at Marymount
University in Arlington County who also worked as a researcher at the
Carnegie Institution of Washington, died May 5 [2010] at Suburban Hospital
in Bethesda. She had metastatic cancer.

She received a doctorate in geophysics and space physics in 1991 from the
University of California at Los Angeles, where she studied the formation of
stars. Shortly after, Dr. Myhill moved to the District, where she did
postdoctoral research at the Carnegie Institution.

In 1993, she joined the Marymount University faculty and taught physics,
astronomy and geology. In 2005, she became a visiting investigator at the
Carnegie Institution, where she continued to research star formation.

In 2007, Dr. Myhill received the Robert A. Draghi outstanding faculty award
from Marymount University.

Elizabeth Anne Myhill, a native of The Hague, graduated from Texas A&M
University with a degree in geophysics in 1983. She received a master's
degree in geophysics from UCLA in 1985.

Survivors include her husband of 20 years, David Williams, and their two
sons, Samuel Williams and Oliver Williams, all of Silver Spring; her
parents, Norton and Margaret Myhill of Austin; and a brother.
