I've received an anonymous note from someone claiming that Kerwin Mathews
was his landlord and had died. The website meekermuseum.com is listing his
death. I don't know where they got their information from or if they are a
reliable site. Anyone heard anything more specific?

Haven't heard a thing.

He was really good looking when he was young in any case!

And, by all accounts, a thoroughly nice guy. He'd be in his early
eighties now.

Perhaps it will show up in a day or two.

this post was on the "rec.arts.movies.past-films" today...

A mutual friend just called to tell me that Kerwin passed away in his sleep
last night or this morning. I don't know if it's in the media yet.

I've been friends with Kerwin for maybe a little over ten years without ever
actually meeting him face to face. We met, long distance, through the same
mutual friend and it led to me putting some stuff on the web for him.

What a charming, charming man. We used to talk frequently on the phone and
corresponded a lot via snail mail. One Christmas he sent me an Oscar made
out of chocolate. He even sent my mother Christmas presents when she was
living. I remember one year Kerwin was the only person who called me on
Christmas Day.

I was able to provide him with a number of photos etc. of himself that he
didn't have.

Originally I just wanted to talk to him about his movies etc., but we
settled into talking about very ordinary stuff that had nothing to do with
his career. He was very down-to-earth, just very, very nice. I'll miss him.

Oh, and according to my anonymous correspondent, he died on the 5th. I
received the note on the 5th and the writer said he had died that day.

Yeah, I decided to wait before adding him to Dead People Server, but
it was confirmed today in the San Francisco papers:
