A hitchhiker who became an Internet sensation early this year when he
used a hatchet to hit a man who had struck a utility worker with his
car [1] was arrested on Thursday night, on charges that he killed a
man in his home near Elizabeth, N.J., on Sunday, the authorities said.
The man, Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, 24, who was taken into custody at
a Philadelphia bus station, is accused of killing Joseph Galfy Jr.,
73, at his home in the town of Clark on Sunday, said Theodore J.
Romankow, the Union County prosecutor. Mr. Galfy died of “blunt force
trauma” and was found unresponsive in his home on Monday, Mr. Romankow
said. The circumstances of Mr. Galfy’s death, and Mr. McGillvary’s
precise involvement, were not immediately clear. But Mr. McGillvary
suggested on his Facebook page on Tuesday that he might have been
subjected to a sexual assault and that he might seek retribution.
Mr. McGillvary, who, according to Mr. Romankow, roamed the United
States relying “on the generosity of strangers for food, lodging and
transportation,” became known on the Internet as “Kai the Hatchet-
Wielding Hitchhiker” after the episode in which he struck the man who
had hit a utility worker in Fresno, Calif., with his car. An interview
with Mr. McGillvary on local television after that has been viewed
nearly four million times, and he appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel
Live” [2] in February.
Mr. McGillvary’s bail was set at $3 million on Thursday, and he was
being held in the Union County Jail in Elizabeth, N.J., Mr. Romankow
said.

I think I'm the only person who'd never saw this "sensation"
until later ... but I'm finding it much more believable that Kai
himself is who grabbed the steering wheel and forced the
vehicle towards the workers he claimed to "save".
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this mental defect has a trail of
bodies across the nation. Bodies of kind people who thought
they were helping a poor, lost soul.

I think I'm the only person who'd never saw this "sensation"
