Eva Dougherty Security Specialist
Eva Dougherty, 87, a former security specialist in the Office of the
Secretary of Defense, died Nov. 16 [2009] at Potomac Valley Nursing and
Wellness Center in Rockville, where she lived. She had Alzheimer's disease.
She worked for the Defense Department for 35 years, retiring in 1989.
She was born in Monte Vista, Colo., and moved to the Washington area after
graduating from high school.
In retirement, she enjoyed bowling, gardening and golf.
Her husband of 29 years, Army Master Sgt. John Dougherty, died in 1976.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Goldberg of Green Cove Springs,
Fla., and Karen Schrager of Gaithersburg; a sister; and three grandchildren.
