[1999-08-11] Solar Eclipse via Iris Light
* Iris Light Records is shortly about to release their first CD-ROM
entitled 'CHIH' (chinese for Eclipse). CHIH will consist entirely of audio
and visuals of the SOLAR ECLIPSE recorded in Cornwall, the home of Iris
Light Records. The CD-ROM will include recordings of 'atmospheric affects
and electro-magnetic field fluctuations' by Host Productions. This
information will then be re-engineered with the sound burst of Solar radio
emissions during the passage of the eclipse. Jeczalid will contribute
'natural visual displays and circumstantial happenings surrounding the
totality' (how's that for a mouthful). A Graphic Design Company Ltd. will
tie the disparate pieces together into live web multi-media installation
on their website together with Dr. David Lawrence of Wolverhampton
University, and the final results will be released as CHIH. Cool stuff.
Hope I can find it on this side of the water.

Massachusetts. The tape will set you back a mere 3 bucks and full details

[1999-08-10] Gallery installation needs field recordings
* Joseph Sergej Velez (aka 'His Cigar Smoke Was Unmissably Subtle') has
put out the call for field recordings of other galleries worldwide for use
with an upcoming installation in Scotland. This will be a 6 week program
exploring the 'relationships between measurements of space and events of
it's past' as its main theme. Recordings will not be tampered with or
'remixed' in any way, although they may only use sections of them. Effects
processing may also be used but this will be controlled by the 'audience'
of gallery-goers using an algorithm to control the sounds according to
their physical presence, actions and reactions. Any sources used will be
fully credited and the complete details and requirements can be had from
dis...@lineone.net. Cool stuff.
