Well, the number of Greeks in Macedonia (there is no southern
Macedonia) is established by the population censi of the Ottoman
Empire. And posting here a highly biased review of Karakasidou book
is a typical example of what goes on in FYROM. Karakasidou's book is
far more complex in assessing the situation and the critique of it by

How soon do we forget!!!! Wasn't it Gligorov who pushed through
FYROM's independence and wasn't Gligorov who insisted on the name
"Republic of Macedonia" knowing the potential Greek reaction? Sure,
he had to back down but he did because he knew how much of this was
fake, since he was the one who brought it forth in the first place.

The meeting with Gruevski was as unproductive as anybody feared it
would be. And we all know why this is. Gruevski, having climbed a
very high horse, cannot climb down without a serious loss of face and
