Barack Obama did not rise to prominence solely on his own merits
His career has been supported for many years by a socialist network,
based in Chicago, but now reaching into every state of the US.
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2008/02/obama-file-16-obama-and-legacy-of.html
The network is an activist matrix led by former members of the ’60s
radical organisation Students for a Democratic Society (SDS)
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6723
and supporters of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA),
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6428
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2008/01/obama-file-7-barack-obama-and.html
Communist Party USA (CPUSA)
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2008/02/obama-file-18-will-obama-be-communist.html
and the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism
(CCDS).
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2008/08/obama-file-25-ccds-marxist-leninists.html
The network has links to hundreds of leftist organisations including
the
Black Radical Congress,
http://www.blackradicalcongress.org
Progressive Democrats of America,
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=7123
United For Peace & Justice,
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6166
USAction,
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6729
ACORN
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6968
and several major trade unions.
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6535
The network has been co-operating since at least the early 1980s.
Parts of it came together behind Jesse Jackson’s failed 1988 US
presidential bid
and again in the late ’90s New Party
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=7434
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2008/08/obama-file-22-barack-obama-danny-k.html
which helped launch Barack Obama’s successful bid for the Illinois
State Senate.
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2008/01/obama-file-4-obama-was-endorsed-by-far.html
Now the network has come together to put Barack Obama in the White
House.
Their ambition doesn’t end there however. The network wants to build a
movement that will be able to pressure an Obama presidency into
legislating for massive social change. They want to relive the 1930s
and 1960s with a new “New Deal” and a new civil rights movement.
One prominent tip of the socialist iceberg is a comparitively new
organisation–Progressives for Obama (PFO).
According to the PFO website
"We agree that Barack Obama is our best option for President in 2008,
and that an independent grassroots effort can help strengthen his
campaign.
"It can also strengthen the mandate for his programs for stopping war,
promoting global justice and securing our rights, liberties, and
economic well-being. More important, independent organization at the
base is needed for compelling social change no matter who is in the
White House.
"We have understood, from the beginning, that Senator Obama is not a
consistent progressive, and often speaks to and from the center of our
country’s political spectrum–sometimes well, sometimes not. All the
more reason, we think, to organize a strong progressive pole,
independent of his campaign, to counter rightward drift and push him
to do better on issues that will win him more solid and wider support.
"We don’t attempt to define ‘progressive’ here. We’re open to all
trends, from the socialist left to moderate liberals, who want not
only to defeat McCain, but also build the grassroots organizations and
networks for wider and deeper change over the longer term.
Writing in The Nation, March 24, 2008,

PGO founder Tom Hayden, Bill Fletcher Jr., Danny Glover and Barbara
Ehrenreich explained
"During past progressive peaks in our political history — the late
Thirties, the early Sixties — social movements have provided the
relentless pressure and innovative ideas that allowed centrist leaders
to embrace visionary solutions. We find ourselves in just such a
situation today.
"We intend to join and engage with our brothers and sisters in the
vast rainbow of social movements to come together in support of
Obama’s unprecedented campaign and candidacy. Even though it is
candidate-centered, there is no doubt that the campaign is a social
movement, one greater than the candidate himself ever imagined.
The four founders of PFO are:
TOM HAYDEN — Author of Ending the War in Iraq, a five-time Democratic
convention delegate, former state senator, and board member of the
Progressive Democrats of America. Hayden was also a founder in 1964 of
SDS. According to Discover the Networks
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=1334
During the Vietnam War, Hayden traveled many times to North Vietnam,
Czechoslovakia, and Paris to strategize with Communist North
Vietnamese and Viet Cong leaders on how to defeat America’s anti-
Communist efforts. He came back from Hanoi proclaiming he had seen
“rice roots democracy at work.” According to people who were present
at the time…Hayden offered advice on conducting psychological warfare
against the U.S.
BILL FLETCHER — Originator of the call for founding “Progressives for
Obama”, is the executive editor of Black Commentator, and founder of
the Center for Labor Renewal.
Fletcher is a former Maoist and is currently a leader of Democratic
Socialists of America (DSA). In 1998 he was also a founding member of
the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) / CCDS / DSA dominated Black Radical
Congress.
http://www.blackradicalcongress.org/index.html
BARBARA EHRENREICH — With Hayden, Ehrenreich is a member of The
Nation’s editorial board. She is an honorary chairman of DSA and was
formerly active in the New American Movement-led largely by former SDS
and CPUSA activists. According to Discover the Networks
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=1058
When the Communist Manifesto was re-released on its 150th anniversary
in 1998, Ehrenreich celebrated the event. She noted that in producing
the Manifesto as a commercial product, capitalists were — as Lenin had
once predicted — providing the rope that eventually would hang them.
DANNY GLOVER — An actor, activist, and chairman of the board of
TransAfrica — where he works with two former Communist Party front
activists Harry Belafonte and Johnetta Cole.
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=837
.
Glover is also close to former Berkely mayor Gus Newport, once linked
to CPUSA and now active in both DSA and CCDS. He has also been
involved with the Black Radical Congress. Glover has close ties to
Cuba and according to Discover the Network
"On several occasions, Glover has visited Venezuela and made guest
appearances on President Hugo Chavez’s television and radio talk show,
Hello, President. Glover is a Board member of Venezuela’s “TeleSUR”
news network, which Chavez created in 2005.

Why do people like this back Barack Obama?
What do they hope to gain from an Obama Presidency?

Obama's ULTRA-Leftist Backers

Hussein" Obama is an associate of a Chicago-based Marxist group.
His campaign workers displayed a flag featuring communist hero Che
Guevara. http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obamas-international-socialist-connections
In 2007, then-presidential candidate Obama named Robert Malley,

the Middle East and North Africa Program Director for the
International Crisis Group,
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6218

Communist Party.

Who is Mike Klonsky?
Mike Klonsky is one of the founders of Communist Party (Marxist-
Leninist) (USA) and the Students for a Democratic Society a fervent
Obama supporter, friend and former member of the terrorist group the
Weatherman.
http://www.theminorityreportblog.com/story/steven_foley/2008/06/25/introducing_mike_klonsky_another_communist_terrorist_friend_of_obama
(...) a notorious ally of Bill Ayers for many years, Mike Klonsky, is
an open member of the Obama campaign. Klonsky runs a blog on the
official Obama website here where he claims to be a "professor of
education"... and says he blogs for Obama on "education politics and
teaching for social justice."
Who is Mike Klonsky? Well, on one level, he might just appear to be a
protege of Bill Ayers in the education world. He received, as I detail
below, a $175,000 grant from the Ayers/Obama-led Annenberg Challenge
to run the Small Schools Workshop that he and Ayers started in Chicago
to push their school reform agenda.
But that is only half the story. Klonsky was one of the most
destructive hardline maoists in the SDS in the late 60's who emerged
from SDS to form a pro-Chinese sect called the October League that
later became the Beijing-recognized Communist Party (Marxist-
Leninist). As chairman of the party, Klonsky travelled to Beijing
itself in 1977 and, literally, toasted the Chinese stalinist
leadership who, in turn, "hailed the formation of the CP(ML) as
'reflecting the aspirations of the proletariat and working people,'
effectively recognizing the group as the all-but-official US Maoist
party." (Elbaum, Revolution in the Air, 228).
I know of no indications that Klonsky has ever expressed any regrets
about that activity. Perhaps like his SDS comrade, Ayers, he, too,
thinks he did not do enough back then. In my view they did more than
enough.
An excellent profile of that maoist milieu is available in a book
called Revolution in the Air by Max Elbaum,
http://www.amazon.com/Revolution-Air-Sixties-Radicals-Lenin/dp/1844675637/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214282892&sr=8-13
a first hand participant whose sympathy for the maoism of the period
does not get in the way of an excellent account of these idiot savants
of the left.
How is it possible that someone of Klonsky's ilk would now be playing
a visible role in the Obama campaign itself on such an important issue
as education policy - apparently with free reign to push his
authoritarian "social justice" agenda?
