House Repugs openly admit / brag that they are just wasting time and
money on their "investigation."

They did that when they said that they were going to waste 2 years on
it.

It's time to vote Repugs out of the house.

How'd Whitewater work for Vince Foster? Btw, how'd 950+ FBI files on
Clinton'e "enemy list" wind up in the Clinton Whitehouse? Oh, I
forgot. It was a vast rightwing conspiracy.

You dodged the question:

How did wassting $80 and 2 years on Whitewater work out for Repugs?

It resulted in Clinton being the most popular former president.

Keep up the good work!

If Benghazi is much ado about nothing and Obama and Hillary are
innocent and pure as the driven snow, then wouldn't it make sense for
them to just release the emails and stop persecuting whistleblowers?
Think about it, all critics could be silenced immediately if Obama
would just release the emails which would prove him innocent.

And yet he continues to hide the emails. Strange.

A very strange story, that 6,000-word front-page New York Times piece

Let's get this correct. BushCo starts a quagmire of mass distraction
to get reelected -- so his campaign can say, "can't change horses
midstream" -- gets 4,000 Americans needlessly killed and wastes $2
trillion bankrupting the economy and Democrats need to be "innocent
and pure as the driven snow?"

The teabag defeat last November is really eating away at Repugs.

The only thing they can do is waste money on spurious "investigations."

The worst thing about hyping AWOL Bush was no one gave a rat's behind
-- much like Benhgazi -- the first time around.

Dan Rather should have been fired more on hyping a non issue four
years after it was determined to be a non issues than on getting duped
by Republicans with a bogus letter.

The Dems didn't run anyone in 2004 -- just like the GOP never ran
anyone in 1992, 1996 and 2008 and 2012.

NO..... but the *IRS targeting TEA PARTY GROUPS* does get me a little
annoyed. You have to love the irony of BIG government trying to squash
the very people that use their free speech to expose the dangers of BIG
government.....

That is the *ultimate example* of why BIG government is tyrannical.

And didn't Obama just finish LYIng to us all by telling us NOT to
believe anyone that calls Government tyrannical. Funny isn't it that
the same week he tells you that lie, his own IRS tells you they acted
like a TYRANNICAL government agency and violated the *RIGHTS* OF WE THE

Then Obama starts a war in Libya and then Obama ignores security for our
Embassy in a place we had been at war with just a few months earlier?

Obama's stupidity does seem to out-shine Bush's stupidity by a huge amount.

Obama can work around an appointee that isn't on board with his
Socialist game plan.... this is proof of that.

My first thought is that Obama coerced them like the Chicago Thug that
he is, maybe a gentle nudge that their secrets will come out into public
or their kids will be targeted for retribution when they reach working
age..... any number of veiled threats.

The other is that Obama has his own people in the Union doing the
organizing of the workers to attack the TEA PARTY

I would BET that there are plenty of UNION plans and undertakings to
target the TEA PARTY and other enemies of Obama and his Socialist pals.

Obama runs the IRS and the Justice Dept. Obama runs the EPA all the
things he said he could use to go around congress, that pretty much was
a way of saying he could go around the constitution and any laws that
stood in his way as well as the congress if it stood in his way.

Obama has said he will use executive orders to do anything he can't get
congress to do.

If it's federal then Obama Has everything to do with it.

Obama has said he will get immigration to do what he wants and he is
ignoring the law and refusing to deport anyone that was a child when
they arrived here.

Are you hearing any of this ?

NO proof that Shulman was the one that organize the behavior.... They
were Unionized government employees weren't they?

Obviously there needs to be some kind of investigation by some third
party person.

Hoodafukk is "Mince Foster"?? Was he the father of the "MinceMeat
Pie"?? Oh, you might be referring to Vince Foster. You know the guy
that was a Deputy White House Counsel during the first few months of
President Bill Clinton's administration, and also a law partner and
friend of Hillary Rodham Clinton. He was found in Fort Marcy Park with
three bulletholes in his head and suicide note in his pocket.

Obama is more likely since that behavior benefits Obama.

Bush’s Secretary of Defense Mocks GOP Attacks On Obama’s Handling Of
Benghazi
By Adam Peck on May 12, 2013 at 11:49 am
Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, a Republican who was
appointed to the position by George W. Bush, told CBS News on Saturday
that he would have handled the situation in Benghazi the same way that
the Obama administration did last September.
During an interview that aired on CBS’ Face the Nation on Sunday
morning, Gates defended the administration’s reaction to the attacks
in Libya and dismissed many of the criticisms leveled by his fellow
Republicans as “cartoonish”:
“Frankly, had I been in the job at the time, I think my decisions
would have been just as theirs were,” said Gates, now the chancellor
of the College of William and Mary.
“We don’t have a ready force standing by in the Middle East, and so
getting somebody there in a timely way would have been very difficult,
if not impossible.” he explained.
Suggestions that we could have flown a fighter jet over the attackers
to “scare them with the noise or something,” Gates said, ignored the
“number of surface to air missiles that have disappeared from [former
Libyan leader] Qaddafi’s arsenals.”
[...]
Another suggestion posed by
some critics of the administration, to, as Gates said, “send some
small number of special forces or other troops in without knowing what
the environment is, without knowing what the threat is, without having
any intelligence in terms of what is actually going on on the ground,
would have been very dangerous.”
“It’s sort of a cartoonish impression of military capabilities and
military forces,” he said. “The one thing that our forces are noted
for is planning and preparation before we send people in harm’s way,
and there just wasn’t time to do that.”
Gates also defended former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has
increasingly become the subject of Republican criticism. Gates
responded with a simple and emphatic “no” when asked if he believed
Clinton could possibly be involved in any sort of a cover up, as some
Republicans have baselessly suggested.
Republicans have refused to put their Benghazi obsession to rest,
focusing on discrepancies between talking points and agency infighting
rather than addressing ways to prevent future attacks and finding out
who was responsible for the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens and
three other colleagues. Critics have accused Republicans of turning
their Benghazi hearing into a political circus, trying to hang the
attack on Hillary Clinton to hurt her chances of a possible run for
the White House in 2016.

We don't have one now.
We only have an "Acting IRS Commissioner"
I wonder if that's part of the Republican obstruction strategy?

Why do you care?

Darrell Issa Acknowledges He Learned Nothing New From His Benghazi
Hearing
By Ben Armbruster on May 9, 2013 at 11:09 am

House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) tacitly
admitted on Wednesday that his hearing on the Benghazi terror attacks
the same day didn’t turn up any new information.

“I’m curious, did you learn anything new today?” Fox News host Greta
Van Susteren asked Issa in an interview after the hearing. After
meandering around for a bit, Issa finally got to the hearing’s grand
revelation — Benghazi was a terror attack:
ISSA: I think the American people learned today from these brave
witnesses, these whistleblowers, that the facts as we were told before
during and after the attack at Benghazi just simply aren’t what they
really were. The acting ambassador after Ambassador Stevens was
murdered, told us in great detail about what happened that day and
what happened in the days to follow and why we should know that he
knew and everyone else in the mission knew from the moment it
happened, from the get-go, as he said, that this was a terrorist
attack.

While indeed, former deputy chief of mission Greg Hicks’ testimony
detailing his experiences as the attacks on the Benghazi diplomatic
mission unfolded was new and riveting. But it didn’t have much to do
with what Issa himself said the mission of the hearing would be:
expose more Obama administration failures and perhaps even some kind
of cover-up (of what, is unclear exactly). “Our hearing will examine
new facts about what happened and significant problems with the
administration’s own review of Benghazi failures,” Issa said
previewing the hearing last month. “This committee will expose what
they did and hold them accountable to the public.”
There’s “no question,” Issa said two days before the hearing, that
former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s staff or even Clinton
herself, was involved in a Benghazi “cover-up” (there was no cover-up
of any kind, by anyone).
However, Issa’s hearing didn’t expose anything, except perhaps how
fact-free a number of right-wing Benghazi conspiracy theories are,
including the idea that Clinton personally signed off on cables
denying additional security for the U.S. diplomatic mission in
Benghazi.
But as far as labeling Benghazi a terror attack, that issue has been
settled long ago. President Obama referred to it as an “act of terror”
the day after the attack and directly referred to the incident as “a
terrorist attack” two weeks later. Issa probably didn’t need a hours-
long hearing to get confirmation on that.

A Decade on, Most are Critical of the U.S.-Led War in Iraq
By Gary Langer | ABC OTUS News – 5 hrs ago

Ten years after U.S. airstrikes on Baghdad punctuated the start of the
Iraq war, nearly six in 10 Americans say the war was not worth
fighting - a judgment shared by majorities steadily since initial
success gave way to years of continued conflict.
Nearly as many in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll say the
same about the war in Afghanistan. And while criticisms of both wars
are down from their peaks, the intensity of sentiment remains high,
with strong critics far outweighing strong supporters.
See PDF with full results, charts and tables here.
A key reason: A substantial sense that neither war did much to achieve
their goals of enhancing U.S. security. Only about half of Americans
say either war contributed to the long-term security of the United
States, and just two in 10 say either contributed "a great deal" to
U.S. security - clearly insufficient, in the minds of most, to justify
their costs in lives and lucre.
WORTH IT? - As such, 58 percent in this poll, produced for ABC by
Langer Research Associates, say that considering its costs vs. its
benefits the war in Iraq was not worth fighting; 56 percent say the
same about the war in Afghanistan.
These results are dramatically different than they were when the wars
began long ago. The war in Iraq, a few weeks after its start on March
20, 2003, was supported by 80 percent of Americans; in Afghanistan, in
late 2001, support exceeded 90 percent. In neither case, it seems, did
the public expect conflicts as long, as complicated and as costly as
ultimately transpired.
Similarly, at the time of the fall of Baghdad at the end of April
2003, 70 percent of Americans described the Iraq war as worth fighting
- nearly twice as many as do so today.
Nor did the war go over well in Iraq, as shown in a series of six
exclusive polls there by ABC and other media partners from 2004
through 2009. Never did a majority of Iraqis support the U.S.-led war;
by 2009, given the toll of the invasion and ensuing years of violence,
56 percent said it was wrong for the United States and its coalition
allies to invade.
LESSON - The course of U.S. public opinion underscores a consistent
political lesson: Hell hath no fury like an unpopular war. Public
rejection of the Iraq war, in particular, irreparably damaged the
presidency of George W. Bush; declining support for the war and Bush's
falling approval rating across his second term correlated almost
perfectly - at .95, with 1 a perfect fit. That's perhaps an impetus
for the Obama administration's efforts to wind down the U.S. presence
in Afghanistan.
Criticism of both wars has been higher than it is currently, likely
reflecting the U.S. departure from Iraq and the reduced intensity of
fighting in Afghanistan. In April 2007, at the height of the post-
invasion conflict in Iraq, a peak of 66 percent called that war not
worth fighting. Just less than a year ago an identical two-thirds said
the same about the war in Afghanistan.
SECURITY - As noted, views of the wars' contribution to security
strongly influence these assessments. Just 21 percent say the war in
Iraq contributed a great deal to long-term U.S. security; among them,
70 percent say the war was worth fighting. Among those say the war
contributed "somewhat" to security, 59 percent say it was worth it.
But among those who say it didn't enhance U.S. security at all, a vast
83 percent say the Iraq war was not worth fighting. The breakdowns on
Afghanistan are almost identical.
In terms of intensity, 43 percent of Americans feel "strongly" that
the Iraq war was not worth fighting, more than twice as many as the
number who feel strongly that its benefits did justify its costs, 19
percent. The divisions on Afghanistan, again, are very similar, 38
strongly critical vs. 18 percent strongly in support.
There are lingering political and ideological differences in views on
Iraq, with support much higher among Republicans and conservatives
compared with others. Fifty-seven percent of Republicans and 55
percent of conservatives say the war was worth fighting; just 35
percent of independents and 27 percent of Democrats, respectively,
agree, as do just three in 10 liberals and moderates alike. Results on
Afghanistan are similar among partisan groups.
HISTORY - The change in attitudes on the Iraq war, in particular, in
many ways sealed the fate of George W. Bush as the most unpopular
second-term president in political polling dating back nearly 80
years. Support for the war ebbed after the fall of Baghdad passed, yet
the conflict continued; as noted, Bush's popularity faded with it.
By February 2004, just short of a year after it started, 50 percent of
Americans said the war was not worth fighting; it reached a majority
that June and stayed there, with just three exceptions, in 52 ABC/Post
polls across the ensuing nine years.
In one notable exchange, in March 2008, ABC's Martha Raddatz asked
then-Vice President Dick Cheney about the public's dissatisfaction
with the war. Cheney said: "You cannot be blown off course by the
fluctuations in the public opinion polls." At that point, about six in
10 Americans or more had described the war as "not worth fighting"
continuously for two years.
Today, five years later, nearly six in 10 still do.
METHODOLOGY - This ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by
telephone March 7-10, 2013, among a random national sample of 1,001
adults, including landline and cell-phone-only respondents. Results
have a margin of sampling error of 3.5 points, including design
effect. Partisan divisions are 33-25-35 percent, Democrats-Republicans-
independents.
The survey was produced for ABC News by Langer Research Associates of
New York, N.Y., with sampling, data collection and tabulation by Abt-
SRBI of New York, N.Y.

Laws are enforced when they are active..... NOT when we take a poll to
decide whether or NOT to enforce that law.

A normal person would think you'd be tired of it by now but your supreme

Briefing: The Iraq money pit
What has all that money bought for the U.S.—and the Iraqis?
By The Week Staff | May 1, 2008

The war in Iraq is costing the U.S. $12 billion a month, and no one
can say when the spending will stop. What has all that money bought
for the U.S.—and the Iraqis?
How much has the war cost so far?
About $600 billion since 2003, and
the total is rising fast. Because of soaring fuel costs and the high
price of repairing or replacing damaged equipment, the U.S. is
spending about $12 billion a month this year, up from $4 billion a
month in 2003. About $1.5 billion of the monthly total covers
reconstruction, and perhaps an additional $4.5 billion flows to
private contractors doing everything from serving food to guarding
diplomats. The remainder covers fuel, ammunition, and equipment, as
well as the cost of paying, feeding, housing, and providing medical
care to more than 150,000 U.S. military personnel. The $600 billion
figure does not include such costly consequences as higher oil prices,
the interest on the billions borrowed to pay for the war (see below),
and the burden of long-term care and benefits for Iraq war veterans.
So what’s a more realistic figure?
Anywhere from $1 trillion to $5
trillion. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office recently said
that the war’s cost would amount to $1.2 trillion to $1.7 trillion by
2017. Harvard researcher Linda Bilmes and Nobel Prize–winning
economist Joseph Stiglitz, in their book The $3 Trillion War, say that
the war’s long-term cost will range from $2 trillion to $5 trillion.
Iraq is already the second most expensive war in U.S. history. Only
World War II cost more, about $5 trillion, adjusted for inflation. As
a point of perspective, consider what the $600 billion we’ve spent
already could have purchased, says Bilmes. “The money spent on the war
could have fixed Social Security for 75 years or provided health
insurance to all American children,” she says.

Has the money been
well spent?
In many cases, no. Audits and oversight groups have found
that tens of billions have been squandered in waste, fraud, and
corruption. Contractors hired to rebuild the country’s infrastructure
or provide security have overcharged the U.S. for everything from soft
drinks—$45 a can—to gasoline. Millions of dollars in no-bid
reconstruction contracts were diverted to things such as Super Bowl
tickets, prostitutes, watches, and jewelry. And much of the
reconstruction work has been substandard. The U.S., for example, paid
$72 million to Parsons, a U.S. contractor, to build a police academy
in Baghdad. But the building was so badly put together that raw sewage
seeps from its walls and ceilings. “This became the lens through which
Iraqis now see America—incompetence, profiteering, arrogance,” said
House Democrat Henry Waxman of California, a vocal critic of the war.

Are the Iraqis chipping in for reconstruction?
Barely, and that’s a
sore point with Congress. With oil nearing $120 a barrel, the Iraqi
government is looking at a $70 billion windfall in oil revenues this
year—twice what it expected when it drew up its $48 billion budget for
2008. But instead of financing the reconstruction of Iraq’s decrepit
electrical grid, sewer systems, roads, and public buildings, most of
the money is going unspent. “The Iraqis have translated their oil
revenues into budget surpluses rather than effective services,” said
Missouri Democratic Rep. Ike Skelton. Congress has cut off further
funds for reconstruction and is looking into ways to prod the Iraqi
government into shouldering more of the load.

Why is reconstruction
going so slowly?
In part because it’s hard to work in a combat zone,
where unguarded workers can be killed by snipers and bombs. The
largest share of any reconstruction contract in Iraq goes to security.
But corruption plays a large role, too. The former head of Iraq’s anti-
corruption commission recently told Congress that at least $18 billion
of Iraq’s own funds has been lost to corruption, with much of the
money ending up in the hands of Shiite militias and Sunni insurgent
groups. That total doesn’t include the losses from oil smuggling and
theft. When the U.S. renovated Iraq’s oil pipelines, it failed to
install meters to monitor the flow of oil. So no one can say how much
oil has been siphoned off illegally.

Is life at least better for the
Iraqi people?
By some measures, unquestionably. Recent polls show that
45 percent of Iraqis expect conditions to improve over the next 12
months, up from 29 percent in 2007. Unlike in the Saddam Hussein era,
when political opponents were killed or tortured and only state-
sponsored media were permitted, Iraq now has 268 privately owned
newspapers and 54 commercial TV stations. Thanks to the surge of
28,000 additional U.S. forces and peacekeeping deals with “Sunni
awakening” groups, war-related deaths among Iraqi civilians have
dropped to fewer than 600 a month, compared to almost 1,800 a month in
2006. But more than 60,000 Iraqis have died in the sectarian violence
thus far, and many portions of the country remain dangerous. In
Baghdad, electricity is available less than 12 hours a day, and many
areas have no running water or sewer systems. Unemployment stands at
around 33 percent, and inflation is soaring. About 2 million Iraqis
have fled Iraq, mostly to Syria and Jordan, and many vow not to go
back. Meanwhile, the political impasse between the government and
Sunnis and insurgent Shiite groups keeps the country stuck in a
primitive, largely dysfunctional state. Americans “are the best in
destroying things,” said 26-year-old Zaid Saleem, who mans a stall in
a Baghdad market. “But they are the worst in rebuilding.”

The credit card war
The Iraq war, says economist Joseph Stiglitz, is
“the first U.S. war financed entirely on credit.” When the war
started, the Bush administration said it would cost no more than $60
billion. But the U.S. budget was already in deficit, so the
administration had to borrow money to finance the invasion. About 40
percent of the money was borrowed from China and other international
investors—the first time since the Revolutionary War that foreigners
financed a U.S. war. At the same time, the administration and Congress
lowered taxes instead of raising them, as is customary in wartime. The
Federal Reserve kept interest rates low, which encouraged middle-class
Americans to go on a consumption binge financed by credit cards and
home-equity loans. Today, say Stiglitz and other economists, the bills
for the country’s spending spree are starting to come due, in the form
of higher prices, a weakened dollar, and lower living standards.
“There’s no such thing as a free war,” Stiglitz said. “The U.S.—and
the world—will be paying the price for decades to come.”

Given the fact that I defend Policies and NOT people I have to say that
you must be lying about me.

I don't know Ken Star and near as I can tell he hasn't lied to my face.

I see. So you think a person that smokes a cigarette or gambles is too
weak to avoid the temptation so it's up to trial lawyers to step in
and sue tobacco companies for BILLIONS. How much of that money went to
"Tobacco education"? anybody that goes to hell will have plenty of
company from the Demorat party. Just think, when you get there ol'
Ted"WheresMyPants"Kennedy will be waiting for you with a Scotch on the
rocks.

And your problem with that is, the US Government, aided by politicians
on both sides of the aisle SUBSIDIZED tobacco companies.

And your problem with gambling is? Given that the biggest promoters of
gambling are state governments.

And your proof that Trump is my friend is?

Put it right here___________________________

Is that where Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick should go? He seems
to approve of lotteries, i.e. gambling. The sort that's been proved
time and again to take advantage of the poor.
