Well, I wasn't going to answer this one, but here goes:

The IDEAL Valentine's Day: Spend the weekend at one of the B&Bs where we
stayed on our honeymoon - either in Stowe, VT (where the room had a
fireplace and 4-poster bed) or in Montreal. Snuggle a lot, talk a lot,
and eat a lot.

The REAL Valentine's Day: Grocery shopping and other weekend chores, then
entertain my father-in-law, who just announced that he is coming to visit
this weekend since he could get a cheap ticket. When he asked last Sunday
(ie, 3 days ago) whether this weekend was convenient for us, Michael told
him that it wasn't, really, since we will already have my cousin visiting
for some portion of it, yet to be coordinated with said cousin's older
sister who also lives in the area. This "hint" approach doesn't work well
with him. Fortunately, FIL is going to also visit his brother who lives a
couple of hours away, so we won't have him the whole weekend. I can't
imagine flying 2000+ miles for a 48 hour visit, but that's me. :)

We just decided what we're going to do on Valentine's Day -- go down to the
pottery-painting place in the neighborhood that we've been meaning to check out
for a long time, and paint some pottery! :-)

We'll probably just have dinner at home but won't decide until the last minute
whether one of us is going to cook or we're going to order pizza.
