We have a poster like the one you described, except it's Darth Vader. :)
It's not hanging up at the moment because it just doesn't go anywhere. Maybe
in the kitchen? The kitchen's black and white...
I *really* hope when we buy a house it has a den for SW posters and standups
and stuff. :)

Also, the people who lived in our house before us had *tons* of Start Wars
stuff. We have a loft where our computer is, and they used it for the same
thing, exect they had tons of shelves with all these figures and spaceships and
stuff. They had duplicates in boxes in the closets! I'm sure they will be
worth a fortune someday since they are not opened (still shrink-wrapped)!!
I know what ya'll mean about waiting until you get a house to do serious
decorating. We just bought a house this past May (near our 1 year anniversary),
and we love being able to do stuff to it. My husband bought me a numbered and
signed print of a painting for Christmas. I still haven't gotten it yet because
it hadn't even been printed when he ordered it, and now they have to frame it.
It is the first "real" piece of artwork we really have. He did bring me back a
print from the National Gallery of Art (It is a Monet -- Japanese Bridge). I
love paintings like that. Fortunately, he does too. The one he got me for Xmas
is a picture of Calla Lilies. It is beautiful. I still don't exactly where it
will go. I feel like our walls are soooo bare!! We have vaulted ceilings in
our entire house, so the walls are so huge!! We have to cover very large
spaces. We are trying to find large inexpensive things to hang, but it is
hard. We plan on painting this summer when we get new living room furniture, so
that is when we will really start looking.
When you get ready to buy stuff for your house, you will either have to
compromise, or he can decorate the study with his cityscapes, and you can
decorate the kitchen or dining room with impressionist paintings. You can
compromise on the living room or get something completely different that you
both like. My husband would not have anything to do with anything flowery or
lacy. Therefore, none of our sheets, dishes, towels, and especially furniture
are lacey, flowery or too ruffley. BUT -- he has agreed to have vases of silk
and fresh flowers around the house, and he likes pictures of flowers. That is
how we compromised.
