Went to a way cool store today for the first time, Cost Plus World
Market (kinda like Pier 1 with food, beer/wine, and a coffee bar), and
we ended up buying a poster that, if you look at it from a distance,
is of Yoda. (In fact, has Jedi Master Yoda' centered at the bottom.)
Close up, tho, you see that it is a mosaic-type thing consisting of
different Star Wars scenes.

In fact, even tho we've been married just over 2 years, it's the first
thing we've actually framed and hung up with a nail. We're waiting
until we get a house to do any major decorating. Nigel doesn't care
for the few pictures I have, he's more into the cityscape posters,
while I like Impressionist prints and stuff like that. When we do end
up getting a house, we're going to have a heck of a time agreeing on
stuff, I think! We had a hard enough time with the couch!

Anyway, when we got it, I just couldn't wait to get home and post
about it on alt.newlywed! *grin*

(snip)

My favorite picture of Jesus is done in a similar way, his face and
crown of thorns is all made up of people's faces, some famous some not. It
is shaded like a real picture of a face turning toward you, but there's
Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr and all these other people in the
picture.

The photomosaic of Yoda! I got that one for DH for Christmas. He loves it -
it's hanging in his home office, in the place of honor next to his desk. It's
displaced his whiteboard, which is now across the room.

I love those photomosaic things. The first one I saw was the poster for The
Truman Show, since then I've seen loads and loads. I also have a photomosaic
jigsaw of a flamingo - the jigsaw pieces cover maybe 2 or 3 of the small
pictures. It was horrendous to do, but very satisfying!

You think the flamingo was hard? Try the portrait of Abe Lincoln done in Civil
War-era black & white photos.

You can't even sort the pieces by color, other than "more light" and "more
dark"!

I gave Ken this puzzle for Xmas and it is turning out to be impossible. :-D

I'll have to look out for that one! My current effort is a Puzz-3D model of
Big Ben, which has around 1400 pieces, almost all of which are
more-or-less identical, and will stand 6ft high when finished! :-)
