thank you, richard.
one would think that, just from the spaniards behavior, that they were
not gods.
but judging from the behavior of the judiac/xtian, greco-roman gods,
gods are a surly, unpredictible, needy, greedy lot.
even jesus, would allow "evildoers" into heaven were they baptized and
repent upon the death bed, and those who do good all their lives, with
naught to repent, but unbaptized, would be cast into the bowels of
hell.
or so would all the myths and legends of the plethora of sects have
one believe.

Hope

Yeah, that tends to happen when we try to create the gods in our
image. ;-p

I don't believe that for a minute. I think someone with the real
"Christ consciousness" would do as the story said and forgive the
thief on the cross, who truly had a change of heart, and tell him he
would be in paradise with him that day, without benefit of baptism or
any sort of "membership" or being voted on by any human "authorities."

Like you, I believe spirituality and religion are two completely
different things.

Spaniards were surely godly figure in the eye of Maya and Mexican
Indio.
Aztec was probably stun what they saw from Spaniards. But human
sacrificial
ritual was also stunned the Europeans that they had to threat Aztec
and Maya as performing evil doers acts. . The native Indio had no
option but to respect Spaniard out of fear of what they can do with
their armor and the horses.

These are Puerto Rico stories, and I have no reason to doubt their
sincerity. I have heard far different stories from people of the
Dominican Republic, where "fuc de Colon" (Curse of Columbus) remains a
daily expression.

It does not seem likely that any NDNs would think of the Spanish or
other Europeans as "gods." Perhaps it was so among the Taino, that is
what the audio says. However the Tainos were a people of the water.
They knew all the islands and nearby mainland; mostly importantly,
they knew and traded with the People around them. The peoples of the
Caribbean traded with each other, and with the people of what we now
call the Yucatan and Florida.

All these Tribes had their own names for themselves, usually
translated as the "real People" or something like that. The Taino name
"Jatibonicu" means "great People of the sacred high waters," i.e.
upland people, whom the Spanish named Taino. The Arawak, also a
society of watermen and with whom the Taino traded, called themselves
"Lakono," which translates into "the People." These Tribes knew about
"the Other," i.e. they knew there were people that did not think like
them. NDNs were far more prepared to meet europeans than europeans
were prepared to meet NDNs.

Thinking that Columbus and his people were "gods" makes it hard to
understand how the Taino could have destroyed the Spanish settlement
that Columbus left behind in 1493. The Taino had no hesitation at
destroying the Spanish who were regularly enslaving, raping, and
killing their relatives. I have heard of the "legends" the speakers on
the audio file are referring to, but I suspect that if the Taino, or
any other Tribe, thought the Spanish were prophetically-described
"gods," those thoughts were dispelled within moments... not years.

Maybe Koreans worship Americans, but the Spanish weren't gods.
Maybe gods of disease.

BTW, Sora Akai baka da naa! (Okay, I don't speak Korean, but
I know how to say "Red Cloud is an idiot" in Japanese.)

Vinyl. Or polyvinyl chloride, if you want to be cool.

Back in teh day it was da shit. I grew up with CDs, but you'd be
surprised
how much old music is coming back. (Partially because whatever MTV
says is
'indie' or 'emo' or 'ska' is usually just gimmicky corporate crap. How
exactly someone signed with Sony appearing on MTV and Fuse can be
called
indie is beyond me.) I even use Garage Band to transfer vinyl to my
iPod.

Maybe you worship ChosenJin or NipponJin. But you know that Mexican do
worship
Spanish. Mexicans have destoryed everything about their native
culture. Only
thing they maintained is the Spaniard left during the colonialism.
Check out
the local Mexican getting marriage ceremony. You are not gonna see
Mexican
people dressed up with ancient Indio custom. What they wore is a cheap
European
Spanish clothes . Yeah Senora and Senorita wear European Clothes. What
a nice
looking European clothes!!! Just kidding hehe:)))

Which is why they revolted.

And have you ever seen what Indians traditionally wore? Some of it
doesn't fit Western standards of modesty.

How many ways to make fun of that?

I'll leave you with a better Lakota name: Ce Cikala. (You seem
preoccupied with that part of human anatomy anyway.)
