Hi! I have a question. A few years ago I inherited some American Indian
land from my grandmother. I'm the last generation that is registerable as
an American Indian, according to the government requirements, and I also
don't have any children so I can't pass the land on. The rest of my family
is now dead, so I can't even pass it up to a mom or dad, brother or sister,
etc, if I were to die. My understanding is that the land would then pass
back to the government - which I sure don't want to happen!
How do I go about selling my land? I live more than a thousand miles away
from the land I inherited. I believe that I can only sell to another tribal
member, the tribal council, or the government. How do I go about letting
the tribal members or council know that I want to sell my land?
TIA!
Teri
