Hey Papa John! How are you doing with the sick leave? I hope that all
is well. I'm new on here, and will gladly be your friend. Tell me a
little about yourself. I'm 50 with 3 children, and 3 grandchildren. I
live in the South Eastern part of Mississippi. Hurricane Katrina gave
us quite a greeting a couple of years ago. While everday is sick leave
for me, I'm still here and slowly going on. Well, ya'll take care now,
you hear? John C. Bass,Sr.
OK, I'm not new by any means, been here since the 2nd week it was
newgrouped by Jeff years ago (Jeff, I fear, may have passed, having
had health problems every bit as serious as mine have been.) Seen
all kinds of folks come & go. There are folks on this group who
tend to fall into 2 main groups, mainly those who study mythology
as a fascinating subject, and the RP (role-playing) gamers. The
serious mythologists (of which I am one) were at first deadset
against
the gamers, but I pointed out that we were getting almost no traffic,
and that the gamers' posts would boost our volume and therefore
reduce the chances of being kicked for lack of traffic. Thereafter,
with
the adoption of a coupla rules to help discern which is which, we
have
all coexisted quietly and peacefully here. The occassional flamer
pops
up but is universally ignored and usually goes away after a couple of
easily deletable posts.
Personally, I will be 60 the 28th of this month, have been a
professional
musician all of my adult life, and am currently employed as a
telephone
operator for a major answering service. Musically I center myself in
the
blues, but can play pretty much any kind of music that adapts well to
the
guitar. I live in Cocoa, Florida (hurricane capitol), just south of
the space
center. In fact Sugarlou (my wife) and I can watch rocket and shuttle
launches from our driveway, which is rather neat.
As far as mythology is concerned, I have a fairly extensive library,
along
with other occult texts, herbals, and philosophical books. All have
fascinated me for a very long time.
Personally, no children except a daughter in Japan I haven't seen for
33
years (not for lack of trying to find her, just no luck), and
apparently no
other progeny, though Sugarlou and I have our blue chihuahua Bebe,
who is 11 years old.
Well met, then, and hope to hear more from you hereabouts.
Love,
Papa John

Jeez, what an idiot I am. My birthday is the 27th!

>was still on the group.
I'm still around infrequently^_^ Spread quite thin at the moment,
looking for work again. It's always good to hear from old friends^_^
I wonder if I still hold the record of most posts in this newsgroup...

That wouldn't be too hard, given the infrequency of posts hereabouts
(chuckle), but it *is* good to year from you! Jeez, I'd post
something
on topic if there were someone on the group, but so far only 2 people
have responded to my plaintive cry for companionship (sniffle.) Well,
lemme dig up a good tale and see if I can get a response.
