i check into amy occasionally, and hope to get enlightened on subjects
that I know about, and more often, those I don't, but MAN!!! that
Henry Potts has an answer for everything!!! I want to start a petition
now to change this newsgroup's name to alt.music.yes&HenryPotts
Somebody second that motion?

No, sir. You could however simply change your screen name to
HoracePotts, thereby paying homage to Henry. He does know his YesStuff,
doesn't he?

No, but...

'alt.music.yeselpkcrimson' has a nicer ring to it... maybe that's just me...

Sorry to both of you but there is only one Henry Potts on this planet,
despite a plethora of imposters. Yes chronicler, food psychology
theoretician, electoral statistician, and legendary collector of CDs,
Henry might one day have his own Talk Show on the progressive scene on
BBC 1. Warning to all guests: his delivery will be positively, downright
Frippian!

I stand corrected on this point. What kinds of food have you
experimented with lately?

I thought you had a cat???

That depends, is he a musical wabbit? And is he progressive? There might
be a lot of fan interest out there! Is he as famous as Cecil the
Sealion?

There was an escaped white cockatoo flying about my apartment complex
for about 8 months. He (she?) survived through the winter thanks to a
kind lady who was feeding him. I tried to catch him but he sqwawked in
defiance and let it be known that he valued his liberty. Psychologically
speaking, his only friends appeared to be crows, but he wasn't exactly
adopted by them. One day a few weeks back, a hawk appeared, swift of
wing and fierce of instinct. Since then, I haven't seen my dear cockatoo
and I fear for the worse!

Survival of the fittest..... thats how I feel about chickens....if we didn't
eat 'em, they'd likely be extinct by now.....white birds, lousy camouflage,
can't fly, slow runners, modern day dodo..... ;-)

The traits you cite have all been bred in to chickens duing the
domestication process, and dodos were killed off by Homo sapiens in a
rather unnatural selection process.

Well, he did have a formidable beak on him, so I felt he was more than
able to defend himself against hawks. I usually suspect human foul play
in these instances. I suspect a small evil boy with a slingshot!

As to chickens, the direct ancestor of the chicken is the jungle fowl.
Alive and well (althought declining where overhunted) in the jungles of
South and Southeast Asia! The males sport pheasant-like plumage and the
females are drab and nondescript. Perfect plumage for the jungle!
They've been bred over the millennia to become the white egg-laying
workhorses they are today and do not naturally occur this way! The
cockatoo was quite the snowy owl himself while there was white stuff on
the ground. He actually blended in quite nicely!

In posts like this, the temptation to quote Cleese & Palin becomes almost
overwhelming ;-))

They aren't all white. They also come in brown, tan and black. ;-)
