I laughed out loud when Jon says "I thought there was a snake here"
when discussing the cover art for Relayer. Thanks for the link. HNY
Thanks for the links. That's some well produced little interview
pieces there. ...guess some upstart video/audio editors could take
these and get hired somewhere up the line.
Rick has said Jon's health is still fragile... but you'd never know it
by this... seems his same-as-ever upbeat self. -- I've been listening
to Yes interviews since first buying some cassettes from 'my
bootlegger' back in 77... I swear Jon sounds just the same. Maybe a
little more articulate actually... unlike one or two of the others.
I think you'll find that these videos actually pre-date Jons recent
Illness'. IIRC they're from either late 2007 or very early 2008
p
Articulate perhaps, but he hasn't the greatest memory. Roger Dean
actually already had the cover art for Fragile and pitched it to
Atlantic Records, asking if they had any suitable artists that might
like it as their cover. But that's not as good a story!
Thanks for that, these are really good vids. I'm off to watch the Ray
Manzarek vids!

Oh... oh well. I was thinking Jon looked a little thinner, and also
just assumed it was recent.
A youtube comment on one of the songs from Jon's recent European tour
said... he looks good, he's lost some weight. It didn't occur to me
right away how misguided that comment prob was... Through most of
history people would have taken news of someone's losing weight quite
differently....

I think that's the first I've ever that... or maybe I've forgotten.
How about the title "Fragile"? Did Dean have that as an idea... or did
someone else chose it later?
From what I remember "Fragile" was meant to be a studio disc + live
disc (ie the Bruford era tracks used on "Yessongs") double LP and the
title came from a sticker on one of their flight cases... and was also
meant to be a humerous commentary on the, then, state of the band.

IIRC the live tracks were to be 'It's Love' and 'America'. Both of which
songs appeared on 'The Word Is Live' eventually. Don't know if it;s they're same
exact tracks as were intended for 'Fragile'.

We have it in our power to begin the world over again - Thomas Paine
The sticker on a flight case, that was a story made up after the
event... by Brian Lane, I think. _Fragile_, _Close to the Edge_,
_Drama_... Dean says these all describe the band's internal state.
