Well any way. I was wondering if anyone has concert pictures on the
net that I could see... if you do reply with the URL..
John
Lee probably has the best concert pics on the web. He has about 200
pictures from the Cincinnati, Ohio concert. Here's the link:

Make sure you email him at: Vari...@hotmail.com and tell him how
much you like his pics!

ow. Ouch. Ugh. Ogh. These are *dumbnails*, not thumbnails. (And
that's the official term for it. :)
Don't resize with HTML.
** Don't resize with HTML. **
Instead, make a *small* picture (a *thumbnail*), then use that as the
IMG SRC= inside the link. Example:
<a href="realpicture01.jpg"><img src="realpicture01_thumb.gif"></a>
That way, I load a bunch of _thumbs when I first go to the page, and
selecting the link, download the *real* picture at my choice.
Foisting a 400K cumulative download on an unsuspecting user is
downright evil.
Maybe nobody uses modems any more. :(

Work for one person, that saves the tens or hundreds or maybe even
thousands of people that visit the site some valuable time?
I think that's the proper ratio.
If you don't want to publish photos, you don't have to. If you
do, you're expected to follow some nice guidelines.
I was just confused when this site was spoken of so highly when it had
*dumbnails*. People here must never get out and look at *other*
sites.
(Shameless self promotion:) Take the 6000 pictures available at
www.stonehenge.com/merlyn/Pictures/. They all have not only
thumbnails, but also a 50%-reduced-size download option in case you
don't want the whole big picture.
And sometime soon, I'll even add searching and sorting by date
uploaded and by content matter.
So, yes, it's possible. No, publishing pictures is not my job, just a
hobby. I just use the right tools to keep from having to spend much
time doing it.
