OK, I'll bite.

WTF is Glee?
I'm guessing Roth is involved :)

I didn't watch the clip, but I'd bet my life that Glee = Jump.

=====

"The show: In a word: AMAZING! I loved it, no hype or agenda here. I
thought the band sounded fan-damn-tastic. The entire band was
incredibly tight and played extremely well together...Sam sounded
fantastic, as did Mike, who played his ass off (and sang his ass off,
too)...I will gladly support the band and see them if they come back
here again. If they do, I'm THERE, no apologies. I put this
performance at a par with the recent Classic VH reunion"

It's a pretty damn popular new TV show. It's especially popular with
people who work in schools, I find, like myself and my wife.

Careful, Rush, your bias is showing.

It is, in fact, this week. What did you expect? Love Walks In? Jump is
by far their most popular song. This is what you'd call fantastic TV
exposure for the Van Halen brand on a major network.

Van Halen represented on a TV show called "Glee"?

Rock and Roll!

Just kidding, but you got to admit it sounds a little fruity.

Way to stereotype a show without ever laying eyes on it. Props to you.
Nah, I don't have to admit it at all. I admit I kind of felt the same
way about the show when I saw the ads, but I watched it anyway with my
wife since we both work in the school system (she's a music teacher, I
work with special needs kids). I love the show. I was absolutely
thrilled to see VH represented on it, along with huge pop numbers of
the past and present, ranging from Fleetwood Mac to Billy Joel to
Rhianna to Madonna (who is allowing the show the use of her ENTIRE
catalog).

I suspect you wouldn't think it so "fruity" if the link was to cast
performance of Dreams.

I do that a lot :)

Maybe I'm missing out on a lot of good shows, but my judgement is
usually pretty good.

I really have no interest in watching anything called "High School
Musical", "Glee", "Dancing With The Stars", "Fame", etc.

Even if they make a VH reference :)

I don't think that's something to be especially proud of, dude.

Let's ask around this NG, shall we?

Ah, so you're judging by titles. Well, that's as ridiculous a criteria
as any, I suppose. That's as bad as people who watch a show and love
it because the lead actor is hot. Glee has NOTHING in common with High
School Musican, Dancing With The Stars or Fame.

> Even if they make a VH reference :)

Your loss. It's a damn funny show, a refreshing change from the
sitcoms of late.

I haven't seen the show, but listening to you, I have to say that I
really hated it. Sorry.

It sounds like the Mickey Mouse Club.

Excerpts from last months Rolling Stone:

=====

Gayest.Show.Ever.
Rolling Stone - October 29, 2009

"Glee" is a campy spectacle for show-tune fanatics, and one of the
most brutal hours of TV you'll ever endure.

Love it or hate it, you've got to give "Glee" credit: You have never
seen this kind of show before. It's one thing for your "American
Idols" and "So You Think You Can Dances" to bring professional showbiz
camp to the mainstream - sequined unitards, stripper heels, Siegfried
and Roy production values. But it's another thing to dream up a
Midwestern high school where these are the staples of everyday life.
"Glee" is balls-to-the-wall camp: the ridiculous story lines, the
bright pastels, the bitchy-pants dialogue. It sometimes makes me
wonder if this is the gayest thing I've ever seen on TV - and I grew
up watching "General Hospital".

The best joke on "Glee" is the way it creates a gay teenage world in
which no other world exists or is imaginable. It's not just feel-good
gay, it's punish-the-outside-world gay, openly hostile to the idea
that some viewers out there might *not* be show-tune queens.

Just watched it and loved it, personally. Opinions here may differ...
not that I care. ;)

Give that show a chance, folks, it's damn funny (and nothing like
American Idol, Fame or any other comparison)..

The guitar solo is pretty faithful to what we have on record.

Other than that, I hated it.
