Looks like the same icon that's been up for about a week to me... side view
of a guy's head with the muscles showing.
am i tripping?gnippirt i ma
*Johnny
it is the profile of a man's head and is part of the artwork for the album
my saviour, the thing in the background that looks like a castle,
looks like a new tool logo to me. can u see it?
j
yeah. i was looking around at one of their links and realized what it was last
night....it's some guys art that is shows the veins/muscles/insides of the
human body.
not that great of art if you ask me. it looks like it's in crayons.

well, when you see the artwork in your hands you might change your mind. The small
icon really isn't doing the artwork of the album justice... and you can't really
reproduce the artwork from the album on the web - involves layers, but that's all
I'm saying at the moment.
i didn't state clearly, but i was talking about that particular artists
website. it didn't strike me as being very good. a good idea, perhaps, but
notexecuted very well.
i'm sure tool did something creative with it. layers, eh? so you've seen
the artwork. should be very interesting.
:jason (layered, lay herd?)
What artist is this?
if you are speaking of alex grey, then i will demand your further
review before i will accept any critique.
as our boys say, hes a modern master.
j
alex grey. the site is called sacred mirrors there is a link in the toolband
links section.
:jason (linklink)
i just went and looked at everything again. it doesn't impress me much, as
said before, good idea, good intentions, horrible execution. the paintings
are amateur-ish it seems to me.
have you seen the "performance" section? looks like some new-agers trying to
create something out of symbols, but have lost all actual relevance.
:jason (opinionated, obviously)
>yeah, its lower case
yeah. neat-o huh.
im glad it wasnt just the acid.
j
amateur-ish? Wow. those is some harsh words. I'm assuming you have
something better to show us?

yep.....go to www.giger.com. the front page is better than everything on alex
greys site combined.

Ah!! lead the way, my dear apostle!!

No animated cover this time around... something else. The band is very excited
and happy with the way the artwork turned out for Lateralus...

u said layers. im thinking something like the encyclopedia, with the
human body where you peel back each layer to reveal bones and veins
and shit starting form a plain body.
j
i thought the same. everyone remember the booklets in kid a? hehe
:jason (seethru)
i found the booklet right away. :)

yea , what i meant was its pretty much all done. as in they definitely
could release it by apr. 17 , if not for the label. - justin
one of my very favorite CDs of all time

i prefer make yourself. but there seems to be a pattern with me, with
the 1st cd i hear from a band bein my favorite by them. examples:
make yourself - 1st incubus i heard
aenima- 1st tool i heard
dirt- 1st aic i heard
white pony - 1st deftones i heard
sky valley -1st kyuss i heard
ten- 1st pj cd , they went downhill with each 1 after
ratm- 1st cd
core- 1st stp
the only exception i can think of for me is:
far beyond driven- 2nd pantera i heard
everything was on schedule if the album was delivered to the label on
time... would have been released april 17th

sorry, I just shot my wad. I swear I get as excited about great packaging as I
do music. That's what I get for being a graphic designer. My god, I'm
envisioning this insane fold-out booklet like something from one of those
encyclopedias with all the transparencies showing veins and muscles and bones
and you can flip them forward and backward into different combinations and, and,
and....

Beating myself to a pulp
Extracting from my skull
All those things I've learned to live with
All those things I've loved
All these things are killing me
A perpetual fall from grace
But the hand that feeds
Is the hand that beats me
Fiercely in the face

what a great fucking album.

one day back in '93, i was biking along, ya know, just going with the flow,
checking out the roads and trails, waving to drivers and such. i took a
trail i hadn't dared to previously, knowing this was the day. i gained
speed and knew i wouldn't make it, but launched off the incline anyway,
pulling up very hard (too hard) on my handlebars. i crossed the ravine, but
i also landed on my back, and got the wind knocked out of me. as i
recovered, i reminisced, thinking of episode #4R34, when j, that wacky guy,
he goes to the circus and tries to do trapeze jumps, and lands in the crowd
and farts! even though i fucked up some discs in my spine, it was good to
have that laugh, ya know?
thanks for bringing those memories back, justin, i really do owe you one.
