Changing the subject quite dramatically, folks (anything to avoid another
ding-dong about Robbie) - what do people think about The Corrs' lyrics?
Who's got a favourite Corrs' lyric? And what do people think are the most
ridiculous lines the Corrs have set on record?
Andrea's least favourite would seem to be 'by candlelight, make love to me
through the night' ('Runaway'), which is understandable!! I came across a
busker in Leicester today who was performing 'Runaway' - but she tastefully
altered that particular line!!

Most of their lyrics are pretty good, but I'd rather see more variation in
them. Practically all the Corrs's songs are about love - don't get me wrong
I have nothing against love songs, but it would be nice to see them sing
about something a bit more powerful, political even.

Just a thought

Tom

Favourite:
"Don't know how you do it but it's lifting me"
(Only kidding!)

Real favourite:
"And I would be...preening in paradise
If I were always beside him like a Siamese"

and the corniest:
"You watching MTV while I lie dreaming in an MT bed"

I think they wouldn't be taken seriously singing about politics. I'm not
sure I would.
Nevertheless, you don't get chart hits with political songs anyway. For all
I know
they could sing anything about Ireland, cause I don't know much about it and
I've
never been there. But not another love song - please!!! They could sing
about
pub crawls when they were teenagers ......, but then again, I guess they
never did that.
I just hope they won't go "normal" cause we've got enough of that shit in
the charts
already. Their remix album is boring. If you're gonna tamper with the songs,
then
go and do it right and change the stuff radically. At least that would've
been interesting.
Still, I'm looking forward to their next album. By the way, check out the
following bands
with female singers.
k's choice (innovative)
guano apes (hard stuff)
bandits (from the german film "bandits")
h-bloxx (sorry no female singer, but listen to the drummer -wow, it blows my
head off)

Regards
Greg

PS: If you're really in for passionate looooovvve songs, try LAURA PAUSINI.

The problem with writing lyrics about a 'serious' topic is that you will
always alienate *somebody*. Don't forget that almost all wars/conflicts
(past, present and future) have basically been caused by religion or
intolerance about others' beliefs. Love and Romance is always a safe
haven for lyric writers because it's very difficult (but not impossible :o)
to offend someone - besides it *is* what makes the world go around!

Besides, choose ANY album from your CD rack and I bet the bulk of the
tracks are about love (or the lack of it!). The Corrs have a passionate,
romantic sound that *cries out* for this kind of material - it would be a
crime if they did anything else.

Ehhh, U2? Most of their stuff is political. In fact, they more or less have
a political adgenda.

Oh yes they did :-) And, if rumour is true, they still do :-)

Well said that man!!

G'day,

sound biased, but who cares!? heh!

A good band has gotta have attitude and not be afraid to sing about what
they believe in, ie U2. I'd say that to pigeonhole a band as being capable
of one kind of song (ie love) is more of a crime than wanting them to sing
about something different for a change!

cheers

Runaway will always be my fav.
NTW, you are not related to Lucy Morgan are you? (I feel more discussion
about this since we had the problems of the 2 Lucys' ) :-)

Also, Kel...I don't mean to be rude but i think the second song you are
reffering to is called "What Can I Do"

I agree that most of the remixes don't do the originals any favours.

Favourite lyric ?? hmm it's difficult to pick a favourite song let alone a
line
from one.

We are so young Yeah,, so make it real or take it all away.

Still unlike Andrea, making love by candlelight all night is ok as long as
you've got a long candle ;-) and you don't spill the wax or burn the
carpet.
