Discography, yes. Complete? No. Here's what's left of my now rather dated
Bill Nelson CD-ography. Stuff that's missing includes. You'll notice that
it's sort of half-finished.
_Blue Moons And Laughing Guitars_ (album, 1992 or 1993, can't remember
right now)
_Crimsworth_ (album, 1995)
_Automatic_ (album, 1994 as part of Channel Light Vessel)
_Practically Wired (Or How I Became...)_ (album, 1995, not out yet)
There's also at least one error here - in the questions at the end,
regarding the "CBS album", I state it didn't make it onto CD. Since I wrote
the discography, I've heard reports that _On A Blue Wing_ *did* make it
onto CD but, given the nature of the reports (one person I spoke to said
she'd had it at one time, nobody else has ever seen it on CD) I suspect it
either appeared in tiny amount or only as a promotional item.

Welcome to the Bill Nelson CDography! This discography tracks the CD releases
of Bill Nelson as a solo artist and of the various groups he has been a member
of. I've limited the discography to CDs only as this format is the easiest to
find and those titles which are restricted to vinyl only are for the most part
out of print.
I put this discography together as there seem to be a number of people on the
net who would like to hear more of Bill but are confused by the sheer volume
of material that is available. The credits listed with each album make it easy
to tell if an album is vocal or instrumental and the CDography is approximately
chronologically correct based upon the release date of the original LPs rather
than the CDs.
This can be used to help decide if you would like a particular CD. If you've
heard, for example, _Sound-On-Sound_ by Red Noise, you can use the discography
to find out that the Be Bop Deluxe album _Drastic Plastic_ and the solo album
_Quit Dreaming And Get On The Beam_ are the nearest vocal albums so you might
want to try these next (and, what a surprise, these albums border
_Sound-On-Sound_ stylistically as well as temporally!).

[1] This disc is a compilation of Be Bop Deluxe tracks from all their albums
with the exception of _Live! In The Air Age_.
[2] This track was only released as a single in the UK although it was on the
US album release of _Drastic Plastic_ (in place of _Visions Of Endless
Hopes_). Since the CD versions of the Be Bop Deluxe albums reflect the
track listings of the UK albums this is currently the only way to obtain
this track on CD.
Notes : A reasonable compilation for anyone who wants to sample Be Bop Deluxe'
output but doesn't want to splash out on all six albums. Some of the editing
is a little clumsy in places (the intro to "Jets At Dawn" has been tacked onto
the end of "Adventures In A Yorkshire Landscape" for example) but the album is
a good sampler of the groups output.

Q: Is the CBS album available on CD?
A: By the CBS album I take it you mean the album known as _On A Blue Wing_
in the US and the combination of the _Getting The Holy Ghost Across_ LP
and _Living For The Spangled Moment_ EP in the UK. The answer is no.
CBS have on 2 separate occasions announced that the album would indeed
be available on CD and on both occasions nothing appeared.
Q: Where's _Simplex_? It lists it in the Enigma catalogue.
A: _Simplex_ was music that Bill recorded as a `first draft' for a soundtrack
to a BBC TV programme on the sculptor Henry Moore. The music certainly
exists and was only produced in limited numbers as a club only CD although
it may appear elsewhere at a later date.
Q: Has _Simplex_ anything to do with _Duplex_?
A: Nothing whatsoever. _Simplex_ is a full album, _Duplex_ is a compilation.
Where's _Half-Duplex_, that's what I want to know?
Q: Are the Be Bop Deluxe CDs available in the US?
A: With the exception of _Raiding The Divine Archive_, not yet. It seems
reasonable to expect them to become available in the next few months
though.
Q: Has Bill recorded with other artists?
A: Lots. He produced the album _Days In Europa_ with John Leckie for the
Skids and has produced albums for The Rhythm Sisters and the Mock Turtles.
He worked with Gary Numan on the album _Warriors_ (his distinctive
sound is prominent in several tracks) and also did backing vocals on the
B-side of a Gary Numan single. He plays guitar on some tracks on the
Cabaret Voltaire album _Code_, plays on six tracks on the David Sylvian
album _Gone To Earth_ and turns up in places on the Rain Tree Crow album.
He's worked with Sandii And The Sunsetz, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Crazy
House and The Rhythm Sisters. He's also got a track on the Velvet
Underground tribute album _Heaven And Hell Volume 2_ under the name Bill
Nelson And The Roy Rogers Rocketeers.
