From Mega Star:

'Spices copied us'

By BEN TODD

SEXY R 'n' B trio TLC have lashed out at the Spice Girls - claiming that
they invented girl power and the Spices simply copied their idea.

"To us, the Spice Girls are just another girl group who have taken TLC as
their patent," said group member T-Boz.

"Every girl group has stolen from our attitude and our look. Solo artists do
it, too. We don't mind. We're trend-setters - that's our job."

"What we do mind is when the likes of the Spice Girls don't give credit
where it's due."

Girl groups are not the only target of TLC. Boy bands N Sync and Backstreet
Boys were dismissed as "bubblegum rubbish," by the American group.

"We're on a mission to wean young girls off awful boy bands," added T-Boz.

Actually some girl group called shampoo invented the phrase "Girl Power".
They had a song called it before the spice girls came out.

Actually, I've been listening to TLC ever since I've been getting the promo's
for their very first album and I've never heard them once mention anything
about girl power in interviews and such. Anyways, for some reason, I just don't
think that TLC said that bout the sg's...oh, but the whole bit about weening
girls away from awful boy bands gets my approval! There's finally someone out
to do that!!

TLC are like the number 1 girl group in America...they've sold millions of
albums here and are veeery popular in the US....The Spice Girls basically
ripped "Last Time Lover" off of them and everytime the All Saints do those
ridiculous "I'm such a fly girl" raps, they are doing bad impressions of Left
Eye Lopez from TLC :)

TLC is or was the top selling female groups of ALL time ebfore the spice girls
came along. And the spice girls did steel a lot form TLC. in every aspect TLC
is better than the spice girls. Their biggest hits include "Waterfalls" and
more recently "no scrubs" which broke all kind of radio records.

TLC was the Best selling girl group of all time until the spice girls came. But
TLC will probably be #1 again because their lattest album is selling well they
aren'tt too far from reclaiming whats theirs.

Probably....anyone know for sure? Here's what I found in a UK chart book:

Ain't Too Proud To Beg got to number 7 for the month of April, 1992...number 8
in May and number 14 in June

Baby Baby Baby got to number 8 in July of 1992...number 1 in August....number 2

Red Light Special got to number 10 in March 1995 (notice 2 songs in the same
month)....number 3 in April (again 2 songs)...number 4 in May....number 13 in
June

Waterfalls got to number 14 in June 1995 (again 2 songs in same
month)....number 1 in July and August...number 4 in Sept....number 8 in
Oct.....

Diggin on You got to number 16 in Nov. 1995....number 6 in Nov...number 7 in
Dec....number 19 in Jan. 1996

In the UK:

Aint' 2 Proud 2 Beg got to number 18 in June 1992...

Waterfalls got to number 5 in August of 1995

Creep '96 got to number 13 in Jan. 1996...

I really can't help but say TLC are cack. They just always bored me really.
And Waterfalls has got to be the most overrated single of the 90's. It's
even more overrated than Jeremy, Smells Like Teen Spirit, etc, etc.

Chart sucess is highly overrated. In movies & music. It seems the top
sellers are usually cack. LFO is a good example this, by far the worst
lyrics I've heard in ages. And it would not shock me none, if they actually

RECORDS! Have they broken? O where do I began. First of all they were the first
girl group to debut at #1 on the album charts, first girl group to debut at #1
on the sales chart. They broke a audience record for radio play over 137
million people listening to 1 song at ONCE. Theya re the only girl group with 3
consecutive mulit-platinum albums, they ahve the biggest first week sales by
any girl group EVER. Is that enough records for you?

1 hit wonders?! TLC has has 9 Top 10 singles more gold and platinum singles by
any other girl group ever. They have 3 albums that have sold more than 4
million in the U.S alone

Ok. I take it you live in the U.K where the Spice Girls are more successful
than TLC. But here in the U.S where records sale waaaaay more TLC is much
bigger and hold all kinds of records the spice girls can even touch. Actually
TLC has had more that hits than the spice girls.

Er, depends on which chart you're using. British chart, yes. But on
Billboard, the Spice Girls had exacatactly *1* chart-topper (Wannabe). Of
course, you'll probably claim that's the anti-Spice conspiracy theory
working, and they in fact *did* (or would have) had an oodle of *1's in North
America. Which speaks more for your delusional nature than anything...

I'm talking about the US (I pointed that out when I first wrote the stats

that for a fact because they haven't had that many singles that TLC has had in

Billboard is based on airplay, so it's an unreliable indicator since
the Spice Girls have an airplay conspiracy against them (probably because
their music makes people happy and some people in the "music industry"
don't want people to be happy because that would be so unfair for all
those in the world who are unhappy: to make it fair everyone must be
depressed and miserable, according to them.)

No, I'm just looking at it from a worldwide perspective where the
Spice Girls don't have an airplay/Billboard conspiracy against them.

I have already offered my very logical explanation for why there is a
conspiracy against the Spice Girls. Go ahead and show me the flaws in my
argument. If you cannot, then you're the one who needs the strait jacket.

You read the bible, lrdf...@aol.com (LrdFreak3)? Well, there's this

little passage I got memorized:

>>wrote them theirselves :)

Hey lrdfreak...1993 called. They want their terminology back.

WTF kinda conspiracy theory is that?! Just face it, they don't play too many
Spice Girls songs here, that's it!

'Cuz Waterfalls was perhaps the only TLC song that has made it to pop radio?
Gosh, I hate when they rip the rap and R&B and stick em in the pop stations!
