I know this is way off subject, but please give me your opinions and
comments. Tonight a friend of mine and i got in a discussion with this
girl about why she's a vegetarian and what her logic and reasoning is
behind it. Every reason of hers didn't work. She would always end up
contradicting herself. Is anyone here a vegetarian that can give me
their logic and reasoning behind being a vegetarian? I would really
appreciate it. Who knows, maybe someone will turn me into a
vegetarian. It's not likely, but i'd like to hear peoples' opinions.
Thanks!

hey. i have a friend that is a vegetarian (mostly, she does some fish, but
only in sushi). she dose it for health reasons, but it started out as money
reasons. when she was in college, it was cheaper to buy vegetables and
related foods than chicken and beef and such. then she noticed that she was
keeping those horrid college pounds off, so she stuck with it.

as for me, i'm definitely not rich and could stand to eat healthier, but
cows and chickens and pigs sure taste good!

Without a doubt, there is medical evidence to show that vegetarian diets, and
in particular vegan diets, are healthier for you. In general, vegans do live
longer (although this may be attributed to an overall healthier lifestyle, of
which diet is only a part). My question would be, why would you want to live
longer if all you're going to eat is grains & vegs? I mean, ever have rabbit
stew? Cheeseburger & fries? Bolognese? The thing that kills me is
"vegetarians" that eat fish. HEY, FISH AREN'T VEGETABLES.

Ethical, health, taste reasons....i have been for about 4-5 yrs now..and don't
miss meat at all. What really got me started was pig disection as a
sophomore....and then a gradual cut down from pork/beef....then chicken
etc...to finally fish...

speaking of fish... i had some fabulous sushi tonight... some salmon,
yellow tail, shrimp, eel and some baby octopus to name some of it... those
little baby octopus tentacles tickle a bit on the way down... yummy in my
tummy!

anyone remember the rev horton heat song "eat steak"?

for health reasons i understand. meat is shitty food.

but for religious or pity for the animals, all i say to you is that yr a big big big bad thing
because:
1-there;s no god to see you
2- flowers have feelings too

it;s really stupid not to care about killing ants w. yr foot, and crying when yr automobil hits a dog.
humans have pity for human-like animals. animals w/ big eyes, friendly.not ants

this is just stupid. if people are not eating meat for religious reasons
then they obviously would not agree with you.

>2- flowers have feelings too

since when did plants develop a nervous system? where exactly among the
systems composed of cellulose, xylem and phloam do these "feelings" lie?

>it;s really stupid not to care about killing ants w. yr foot, and crying

ants

yeah, by the same logic its just as "really stupid" for someone to care more
that they killed a human being than if the killed a hamster. get real.
and by the way read a book on biology. there is a huge difference in the
nervous systems of mammals and bugs which means there is a huge difference
in their ability to feel pain. it is not the fact that the meat industry
kills the animals, but rather the appalling conditions under which the
animals live and painful methods of death involved that bother me and, i
know, a lot of others. think before u speak. im fact, just think.

I know it's sad, but that's how the industry works. If there's a way
they could go around the horrible conditions and shit like that, i'm
almost sure they would. That's how the world works. Everyone needs

all i said was
1 there is no god (in my humble opinion)
2 i agree that mammals feel pain differently than ants.i didnt mean to offend anyone
i cant see the diference betwteen killing a human and a dog.i dont know if i should get real, or everyone else.

Haha, "You killed that carrot you fucking murderer!" that's what i said
to that girl i was arguing with, cause by her logic, she really was a
murderer. All she had to say was "No, that's different from animals."
What an idiot. She said "Anyone who eats meat is an ignorant
murderer." Some people just need attention to feel any self-worth.

I think the difference between killing a dog and a human is that humans
can think based on logic and emotion, not just instinct. Can a dog
ponder the meaning of its existence? No, it justs stays alive
instinctively. You never hear about doggy suicides.

Ok ...so how's this...real briefly:

environmental impacts. Rain forest being killed off to graze the living beef
to send off to other countries. If you have forgotten, this is where we get
most of our oxygen. As cheeseball as it sounds, later on we will need that
air...our kids if u choose to have some will too....Don't be so apathetic to a
point where you can't see the long term effects of this.
Now, i don't believe i am a "fucking fool" for quietly respecting my own
choices and beliefs.
