Kerrang has the top 100 things to look forward to in 2002 (not in order I hope)
but at 84 they had Zwan -
"With ex-Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, ex-Chavez guitarist/vocalist Matt
Sweeney and underground luminary David 'Skullfisher' Pajo established as his
band, Billy Corgan's Zwan project has lift-off. According to reports from the
four gigs the band recently played in California, Zwan nods to Corgan's former
band in its quite-loud moments, as well as incorporating a heavy Beatles
influence. The band are recording their debut album at the moment with Flood
(U2, Smashing Pumpkins) at the helm and Corgan recently told the Chigaco
Tribune he feels "like a million bucks" thanks to his new band. Song titles
include: 'Chrysanthemum', 'Jesus I' and 'Never Give Up'.

God, I hope it's not Flood, or Butch Vig. Hell, Billy, try someone new.

i see what you're saying, but from looking at flood's work with the pumpkins
and just his track record in general with U2, NIN, etc, he never seems to
repeat himself. best producer of all time, in my opinion. besides, he's
merciless with track selection. the man cut set the ray to jerry from an album,
for god's sake. : - )

Yeah, but he kept "TOASE", "Love", "X.Y.U.", et cetera. He's not merciless
with track selection, he's poor when it comes down to it.

although set the ray to jerry is my favorite pumpkins song, i don't think it
would have fit on mellon collie, whereas "TOASE", "Love", and "x.y.u." all fit
perfectly. i think flood is brilliant, and i don't think billy would trust his
music to someone less skilled.

And he wanted IOTM off Machina. But, that's a good example of how now
Billy's learned to not be dissuaded when brown cow Billy is sure. And
remember Billy did write those goddamned horrible songs.

Flood is the rare producer who can match Billy in terms of expansive vision
and willingness to try anything. Don't deny that his unpredictability fits
Zwan.

Oh, I forgot, Flood is also responsible for a whole lot of shitty production
on MCIS. "Love" has the worst production of any Pumpkins song ever.
Including "Autumn Nocturne".

God knows what he'd have to do to get him, but plain and simple, BILLY
NEEDS ALBINI.

Eh. I wasn't saying that. Basically what I was saying is that I don't
like Flood much as far as production goes. Yeah, he might be
unpredictable just like those Wacky Zwan Troubadours, but that
doesn't necessarily make him any good.

Well, that's a given, but he'd probably have to wear a Shellac t-shirt at
shows, and then say things onstage like "you know, 'Songs About Fucking' is a
great album," too.

I go to lots of Man...or Astro-Man? shows, and they say that Albini is a joy

Haha, Jesus. Because the one note verse riff is so insanely interesting on the
gravity demos. Yeah, Flood ruined that average riff by making it sound
ass-kicking.

afterward we will record a full legnth rock record" of course this isnt
