Played Opeth-Still Life today, and so, the last couple times I have
played this album, I have found myself feeling bored with it. All I
can say is it's the least favorite of the early Opeth albums for me.
It has not aged well. I remember liking it a good deal when I first
heard it, 9 or so years ago.

D: Hype. When people say something is the greatest thing they've heard
in a while. see also "built up", and see also "disappointment", "death
rattles", "cut bin in 3 weeks", "Guns 'N Roses Chinese
Disappointment", "being sold at Dollar Tree", and so on.
Anyway, a couple people I know were hyping the latest Flotsam &
Jetsam. "The Cold" I was listening today, and it's good, certainly
better than the last couple they've done (I've heard) but one guy said
he's listens to it "everyday" and the other said it's the best they've
done since the first few.
I don't know yet. Certainly not going to say it's the best they've
done yet. Probably not going to say that, either.

Of course I did listen to this album right after hearing Terrible

What's your take on this one? I d/l it to give it a listen and it
didn't do much for me. Actually I found it quite boring, and a waste
of Stu's vocals.

This was a coming back to give it another chance type of listen. I
for the most part have thought the same as you say here off the
initial listens. To the point of the previous listen I got about half
way in and didn't finish the listen.
After a few months of not listening, it didn't do much. Maybe I will
come back again in a month or so and try again. It's not going down as
their finest moment, I don't think.
Burnt Offerings is, I believe.
Nothing else on the list was noticed for any comments?

I think we can safely say they'll never top it. (or the chance is
very remote. Almost about as good as winning the lottery, which as the
e-trade baby says "the odds of winning is about as good as being
mauled by a Polar Bear and a regular bear on the same day".

General comment on life.
Ever notice that as soon as you
a) pay off some nagging loan
b) have some sort of extra cash
c) combo of above
Life happens.
1) A tree branch fell on my car the other day, broken turning signal
light cover $
2) my muffler is sagging on my car, ready to fall off I think, just
noticed it today $$
3) Last night while eating one of my molars cracked and I will likely
have to have it extracted $$$
Just to prove Sam Kinison was right about "life keeps on blanking you
in the *** even after your dead, it never ends."

I didn't really pay attention to what sort of instruments were used.
I was looking for songs that interest me, no matter the musical parts.
Hence the reason to have to go back and hear it again sometime.
Probably take 3 or 4 listens to get a handle on what's going on.
I did see reviews saying it's sort of a difficult listen, and not
recommended for a first album to hear by Tori (which usually is Little
Earthquakes, meaning recommended to someone who's not heard Tori
before.)

Ok, 2 down, one to go. And so far the cost isn't nearly as bad as
expected.

NP-Rush-Vapor Trails.
Sounds good so far, I can't believe it's been out 10 years, though.
Never actually heard it before. (maybe a couple songs were played on
the radio.)

Yeah, we almost had no winter this year. I believe we got maybe 2
inches of combined snow the whole winter, and Feb. was about 6-7
degrees warmer than average for the full month.
