The world wide web has been abound with speculation on a possible "BIG FOUR"
tour for several months. Now, Sonisphere can exclusively reveal that
METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will play together for the first
time in history, in a move that will have metalheads across the globe
frenzied with excitement.

Says Lars Ulrich of Metallica of this historic announcement:
"Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash
metal's big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but
will now play together for the first time.what a mindfuck! Bring it on!"

"It's about fucking time this happened," said Slayer's Kerry King. "and
about time the fans finally get what they want. This is fucking awesome."

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian agrees, commenting on the enormity of the
announcement.

"People have been talking about these four bands playing together since
1984. That's twenty-six years of expectation!!! And the thing is, I believe
not only will we live up to the expectations, we will shatter them!! No
other four bands as influential as the four of us have ever done this.
Imagine if The Beatles, Stones, The Who and Zeppelin had done shows? Or
Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Motorhead? Well, I may be getting into some
rarified air here but as a fan, that's how big I feel this is."

These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement to
dominate the metal world in the 1980s, selling millions of records and
packing arenas across the globe. The metal giants have never before all
shared the same stage, despite huge demand. But on 16th June 2010,
Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax will take to the Sonispherestage at
Bemowo Airport, Poland, to make the dreams of headbangers the world over
become a reality. A second Big Four appearance is planned for Sonisphere
Czech Republic three days later, with more Sonisphere shows featuring the
awesome combo to be announced in the coming days and weeks.

"This is a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity for Heavy Metal "Fans" to see
the four greatest Heavy Metal "Bands" in American History back together on
one stage" concludesMegadeth mainman Dave Mustaine "If there are any heads
left at the end of this Festival that haven't banged, they don't belong
there."

This would rule, if any of us can make the show. Surely not much of
a chance for this to happen Stateside.

I'm honestly not that excited. Yes, it's historical and I'm very glad
it's happening for all the right reasons, but personally I would
rather skip this show and just see Slayer live.

If I can affford it, I'm very tempted. A lot depends on my employment
status over the next few weeks and months.

Last time I saw each of the big 4 Slayer were the worst tbh. Metallica have
been awesome live lately, I always enjoy Megadeth and Anthrax are as good a
live act as you can wish for. I love all 4 of these bands for the most part
( all have taken a turn for the worst over the years here and there ) but to
see them all over the same weekend would rule for me. Besides which, if this
happens at the UK Sonisphere it would mean the big 4 plus Iron Maiden ( who
have already been confirmed ! ).

Sonisphere UK ( so far Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, Alice Cooper, Rammstein,
Motley Crue, the Cult and Iggy Pop ) have just announced that anyone who
buys a ticket before Dec 31st will get a free ticket to the Poland festival.
Time to check out flight prices I think!

Ian will now take a break to change his pants. It could only get
better for him if Nevermore were also on the slate.

I do like Megadeth. They produced three of my all time favorite metal
records.

But they just don't excite me live that much.

Of the big four, I have actually seen Metallica and Anthrax live.
I'd like to see the other two sometime.

Tom

of the second level, I've seen Exodus live as well. I'd love to see
Testament, Forbidden, Overkill and so on.

I've seen all of those with the exception of Overkill. It's truly
amazing to think you live in America and haven't seen many of them,
whereas I live in the far north of England and have seen all but one
of those artists.

I guess it`s easier for us to travel possibly...I`ve seen all of the above
but the only one to play my hometown have been Megadeth. Slayer have never
played within 200 miles of me that I`m aware of but I`ve seen them about
12-15 times. Tom does say he`s not prepared to travel to see bands whereas
I`m more than happy to.

It really depends on where you live that the US is good to see
thrash bands play live. To the best of my knowledge, no major or
second level thrash band has played a show within 50 miles of where I
live.

The thing about it is, many of these shows that happen anywhere
drivable from here, usually happen on a work night, and driving, say
180 miles or so, to St. Louis or Cincinnati is not something you want
to do, and then try to work the next day.
Not to mention a longer drive to Chicago.

Not nearly as cool as the Destruction/Sodom/Kreator shows several
years back. And playing the same festival bill isn't exactly "playing
together", however I'd go see this if it were possible

See, to me, 50 miles is nothing. I`ve travelled that far just to see bands
I`m only moderately interested in. It`s an hour up the road.

It`s a one day event where the big 4 are the last 4 on, one after another.
It`s as close as it`ll ever get. I saw Celtic Frost and Kreator together the
other year, that was pretty awesome. The Kreator/Sodom/Destruction tour
never made it to the UK.

Usually though, it's not just over 50 miles. It's often two-three
states away. When you see the tour date lists, and the closest show
is, say Kansas City, on a Wednesday night, you know you're not driving
there and back in one night.

I thought you lived in Indiana?

Your neighbouring states are Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky.

For sake of argument, I took a quick look at Slayer 2010 concert
dates. They hit Louisville, Chicago, and Detroit. Do you live in some
black hole that is magically equidistant from all those cities?

I do. However, Kansas City often is on the tour dates of bands I
like.

They are. However shows happen in other states just outside of that
ring as well.

Louisville would probably be closest as the crow flies. But it's
still a pretty long drive. Cincinnati or Columbus Ohio would probably
be easier drives.
Detroit is a very long drive from here.
Chicago, I guess if the show's not way on the North or West side of
town it would be a possiblity.

All are not drive up there after work and back after the show in any
case.

The Chicago House of Blues show would likely be the only chance. Long
