What metal did we get? My boys gave me the past two Municipal Waste CDs
as stocking stuffers. Mom was thrilled <not>.

Not as heavy as that, but I got Kansas-three pack Self titled debut,
Masque, Monolith, and Blue Oyster Cult-Three pack, ST debut, Fire of
Unknown Origin, and ET live.

I love my metal, but those three Kansas destroy pretty much any metal
that came out this year :)

Always liked Kansas and BOC. Phil Ehart is a great drummer and Don
Roeser is very underrated as a guitarist.

I dig those three albums a lot. Probably going to pick up a few more
Kansas albums I don't have. Like Point of Know Return and
Leftoverture.

So many good solos between both bands. Maybe they ought to tour
together.

Both cast-iron classics.

Well I didn't get any metal but I did have a chance to finally delve
into vinyl for the first time at my in-laws. My father-in-law got a new
turntable and we were going through his classic rock collection. I do
like vinyl and I was amazed how clear a record that's in great condition
can sound. I don't think it's necessarily any better than cd but I would
say it was just as good. Growing up for me I owned two vinyl records at
around age 5 or 6, started picking up tapes around age 11 and then cds
at around 13. I have no idea what happened to the two vinyls I had a
long time ago, my tapes I gave away to friends as I replaced them with
the CD releases, and now I mostly listen to my cds as flac files on the
pcs throughout my house including the one connected to the hi fi in the
basement.

I have a few duplicates of vinyl and CD. Best of which are Powerslave,
The Wall, Van Halen I, Moving Pictures and Signals, and 90125
Over the years I've since been acquiring lossless files for all the
vinyl I have. I cant afford to go out and replace them all but those
above were worthy.

I tend to agree with the ones I've heard being cast iron classics. I
don't know that I have heard either of those two end to end or not.
Song for America is probably going to be on that list of getting soon.

As for you BN, I sort didn't expect you to be a Kansas fan.

I love old Kansas. Metal is not the only genre I enjoy.

I still have to say the debut KANSAS album is a classic, right up there
with MASQUE, as far as I'm concerned. But many of their albums are
classics -- just be careful when you get to the non-Steve Walsh albums!
