Not bad but there were not full plots worked out and portrayed, missing
pieces to a line of emotion or conclusion resulting in the story left
it a weak emotional attachment to the characters.
Some of it was almost cartoonish, but them some of it was done really
well pertinent to being realistic. It was very apparent that it was a
play and not reality due to the way one event was used to base another,
there wasn't a sense of random happenstance which is how you convince
movie viewers of realism (life like). One event led to another in such
a phony way that it was hard to take some things serious.
But the acting was great, and I love seeing Costner on screen. I just
love the mans presence and personality and his gentle yet firm sense of
mentorship and teaching. There were some really good humor parts, the
fight scenario where Costner settled a score was a little extreme but
still kind of neat.
Overall I enjoyed the film the action parts were all really believeable
and realistic, and the characters were acted out well by all the
actors, I just didn't think the micro-plots summing up to the whole
plot were done well because they weren't believeable and were so phony.
Clutzy such as Jake after graduating still being tutored (on the
helicopter) like he was still in the boot camp when they went to their
call at the end, and just the fact that Jake wound up being stationed
where Costner was when a feeling that the graduates would be deployed
accross the country at random happenstance yet Jake ends up at Costners
station? This is the kind of clutziness that ruins convincing realism.
The movie makers should have had Costner in private request that Jake
was sent up to his station in Alaska, instead of it looking like it was
random happenstance. The many of these little errors eventually claim a
film to be a disaster, but didn't with this one but it came close.
The whole of the audience (80% full) enjoyed it in my opinion and
thought it was a good film.
Both Stephanie and Virginia Newbon again portrayed, Stephanie is the
winner (and this actress they used to play Stephanie was quite
appealing to me). And to RUSH I would say "Gee RUSH, most people are in
support of Stephanie as the wise choice for a partner, what is wrong
with your witchcraft that you don't feel this way?" because I feel too
that Stephanie is better for me. And to tell you the truth although
Stephanie is better I don't want either one of them because they are
not true solid original individuals by their own workings and decision
making. They are both animations of other women that are so proud of
themselves that they command other females younger and less mature, and
these woman love their definitive role as a "high priestess". It's
these high priestesses that have ruined both Stephanie and Virginia,
and it's due to weakness at a time of pain that both Virginia and
Stephanie have sold themselves out.
Kevin is right to portray Stephanie because he likes Stephanie better
as the ideal partner for me, but he still misses important elements of
who she is that uquestionalby disqualify her for me. The group she is
loyal to is the group that continues to arrange pain for me to get me
to sell myself out just as Stephanie did to these women. Witchcraft
that necessitates pain in one to become the adjunct apprentice of these
high priestesses, is evil. Using pain to subdue a person to a
spiritually practiced religion as these women use it, is clear that
they are evil. Because Stephanie is not willing to chase me down and
tell me she's 1) sorry 2) in love with me 4) willing to cease being
dependent on these women and these witchcraft practices makes her wrong
for me without any question.
I know what Kevin sees in her that makes him try to motivate me to get
with her, I see it too, but there's that other stuff that is no good
that makes all that good stuff bad. The good stuff is eclipsed by the
bad stuff, and Stephanie has hidden self-destruct mechanisms inside
herself when she is in the peak of passion of love, she starts turning
on her men to destruct it - and this I believe is very much still going
on within her, embedded, and it's all subconscious not conscious, so
she couldn't stop it if she wanted to. And I'd be the one on the
receiving end of it, thus I'd be getting some form of abuse and damage
from her. I don't want that, and don't love her because I don't know
her enough to love her, but there is a very strong sexual and emotional
attraction to her that probably under different circumstances would
turn in to a beautiful love.
Stephanie is a better choice than Tinsel princess. RUSH has no idea the
self-destructive path they've put themselves on regarding having a
relationship with me.
But staying on the movie it was good, and I am confident everyone is
going to like it, for one it was very educational about the Coast
Guard, and taught me the things I always wondered in relation to the
armed forces & such.
Nice job Kevin!!
ooo RAH!!
