I purchased my copy of the Special Edition (2 DVDs, 1 CD) yesterday and
I have some questions after a brief look at the DVD of their live
performances.
David Jeffries, the reviewer for All Music Guide says "the producers do
a wonderful (job) of overdubbing (or maybe Rammstein are really the
tightest band to ever inherit the earth).
Tell me David is wrong. Rammstein appears to be incredibly tight live
but I don't think there has been any overdubbing in post production.

It is my undertanding that there has been no overdubbing whatsoever, but I
could be wrong. I don't see the point of recording a live show if you're
going to do that.

As far as I know, most music is digitally recorded now. So it would be
possible to go through a live digital recording and clean it up.
I don't think that's the case with Rammstein on Volkerball. I think we
have a reviewer that isn't that familiar with Rammstein and he can't
believe they are so tight. I've listened to the DVD again but this time
I ran the sound through my stereo and I don't hear any overdubbing. I
hear a few minor mistakes in a very few songs but that would be an
indication of no overdubbing. Rammstein is very good live. I wonder when
they will play west Texas? <g>
I was hoping someone that had seen them live would have responded. I
guess we're the only two Rammstein fans left? Who the Hell is buying
their CDs and DVDs?
I have another question: In the songs from France, people in the crowd
are making a hand gesture. Being from Texas, we take our hand and raise
our pinkie and index finger, fold down the middle and ring finger and
put our thumb over those two fingers and we make a little longhorn. If
you're not familiar with a longhorn, it's a type of cattle with very
long horns. Imagine a bull fight and the bull has really long, tall
horns. The longhorn is also the mascot of the University of Texas, the
Longhorns. Texans make that gesture to say "go horns!"
I doubt the French people are saying go horns when they make that
similar hand gesture, so what does that hand gesture mean to people not
from Texas?
I never did answer your original question: Yes, it is always this quiet
in here.

I must admit I am of the same opinion. They are just good musicians,
period.

It's surprising how many people have not even heard of Usenet. I suspect
there'd be many more posting here if someone were to show them what a
newsreader was for and how to use it.

That's a good question and I haven't the slightest idea what the answer is!
They don't just do it France either, I've seen people do it here in the UK,
mainly youngsters who think it's a cool gesture to make while your dancing
and flinging your hair around at a club!!
Perhaps that's all it is, that they don't realise the symbolism of the
gesture. I certainly didn't until now, so thanks for the information!!

Hi, I was wondering where you had got to, Lars. I meant to ask where you
were from ... I have actually visited Denmark many years ago. I even
learned to speak a little but have forgotten most of it. I think the only
phrase I remember is "Jeg talle icke Dansk"!! Which is probably incorrect
as well!
Anyway, it's good to see you still here. :-)
