Subject: Sweepstakes
Okay, here's a brain cramp waitin' to happen.  A long time ago, in about
1981 or 1982, there was a song on the radio and I believe it was called
"Sweepstakes".  It sounds like The Waitresses (who did the title them to
"Square Pegs" and "Christmas Wrapping"), but I don't believe it was.  I've
looked on their stuff, as I can find it on the web, and it's not on there.
But it's a quirky song similar to the above to mentioned songs.  I used to
have it on cassette for the longest time.  I was notorious for recording
music off the radio and making these tapes called "HOT HITS".  I ended up
with like almost 20 tapes by the time I graduated high school.
"Sweepstakes" was on the first one, which means it was roughly 1981.  I
remember "She Works Hard For The Money" was on that tape too, I THINK, so
that would put it around the very early 80's.  Does this strike a chord w/
anyone?  If I found this song, I'd be happier than when I rounded up "Whirly
Girl" from Oxo.   (remember that one too?)

Is it 'Sweepstakes' by Nursery School, issued on Epic Records?

Details of V Ghent's website: http://www.valghent.com/music.html

I'm a bit confused about Stephen Bray though ... my guess it's the composer
/ producer associated with Madonna (Who's That Girl).  Is there more than
one Stephen Bray?  One appeared on a panel for the LA Chapter of Grammy and
serves on their Board of Governors (http://www.grammy.com/losangeles.html)
whereas MSN list him as dead
(http://entertainment.msn.com/celebs/celeb.aspx?c=235624)

And Ramona Jan. a guitar player, seems to be the daughter of Tom Milmore,
musician, engineer, and producer.

She possibly authired an out-of-print book on Bon Jovi in 1988.
