ssdrzewi...@charter.net if you can help. The lyrics I need are for the songs:
> Son of a Gun Polka
> Get Married Brother Polka
> At the Doctor's Oberek
> Wicek's Oberek
> Zielona Trawecka Polka
> Psia Krew Cholera Polka
> She Lost Her Shirt Polka
> Staro Baba Oberek
To help you briefly , and in part, I'd note that the words to "Psia
Krew" can be found by Googling KRZYCZY BABA KRZYCZY, the original
Polish title : The first entry ,
winka.net , will bring up the text.
Zielona Traweczka : This text can be found in the alphabetical list
of songs on the ConcertinaMusic site. Virtually all the others can be
found on the back of an old Pala Brothers LP, which many polka fans
should have , while the Stara Baba oberek's words are in a Lil Wally
song book ( which many musicians have, and which can be bought cheaply
from Jay Jay in Miami , or from others who sell polka songbooks ). You
could also ask any Polish native speaker to write these out for you
( in return for a favor/dinner/free tickets ---or free CDs: That would
be a good incentive to many Polish-speaking people-- or whatever. Like
a few dozen others in the field, I think, I know these by heart .
These are fun songs for parties, I know, and I usually help with
lyrics, but have to keep it to a manageable amount and am also
disinclined to write out ( fun for some though they may be ) a big
quantity of "dirty" songs ---so while I won't do that ( and am not
sure anyone else would either without the kind of incentive I
mentioned ) , I tried to do the next best thing by supplying info on
those songs that are available on line and by telling you the best
ways to get the other lyrics.
