This truly is the end of an era in polka music. May Eddie's family
take some comfort in the fact that he brought great joy to many
thousands of people for many , many years --and , in so doing, made
this poor old world a better place.

This story was just picked up by AP ( Associated Press ) and thus
distributed among the major media of the land ( as such, with the AP
logo, it just appeared among the front page major news items on my /
Optonline/ computer home page , and many others, too, no doubt ----
That's a rare distinction indeed for a polka musician and a tribute to
Eddie's recognition nationwide.

I remember the first time i heard eddie in 1965 when bill Shilbillski booked
him to p;ay at bellmont ballroom in garfield new jersey he had a very young
lenny gomolka on horn and clarinet i think bobby zima was on drums they
sounded good but the people from the east thought chicago style was to slow
thats when bernie packed the place on sunday night RIP eiddie you will be
missed.
