ONELOVESTORY REVISITED/stone roses/oasis mystery

I just found the following discussion at a Stone Roses web site and thought
that some people, in light of the latest Roses activity and Oasis destructive
tendencies might enjoy it. The site is called Hobbits Stone Roses Heaven.
_________________________________________________
Sweetness was curious as to why I believe there is "something" to Onelovestory.
It's actually got naught to do with the veracity of the religious meanderings
of Burnweed. If OLS was just Burny spouting off about the Messiah etc, with
nothing else, I don't think anybody would have paid him any attention at all.
But, as almost everybody agrees who has read OLS, there are some VERY salient
points made by him which are the real impetus behind OLS having survived and
grown since May, 1995 when he first started writing it from an online account.
To properly analyse OLS you have to be able to separate it into two separate
things. The first, and most important question is:
ARE THE ROSES PERPETRATING A HOAX UPON THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND THEIR FANS?
We can analyse that question based on a very large body of evidence available
to us. And whether you like him or not, Burnweed is responsible for bringing
this question, and a whole body of evidence to our attention. Burnweed gets in
trouble and loses so many people's attention and faith when he tries to answer
the second question. The second question comes only after you analyse the
evidence and answer the first question in the affirmative. In other words,
Burnweed has analysed the first question and believes as a result of such
analysis that the Roses have an agenda and that they've never broken up. For
him, it's all part of a huge, strange work of art that the Roses have planned
for us.
The second question then must be asked:
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE HOAX AND ALL OF THE BIBLICAL REFERENCES IN THE STONE
ROSES MUSIC?
When Burnweed tries to answer this question he really pisses people off. Let's
forget about that question, separate it from question number one and see if we
can't have some fun looking at various clues which everybody has available to
them and can examine and draw conclusions from themselves.
Burnweed is a lawyer and he asks people to be like a jury. Let's forget about
all the Messianic claims he's made and just focus on the Roses music, lyrics,
interviews videos etc and those of Oasis and others to see what might be a
great work of art. If Burnweed is right about question number one, but wrong
about question number two--- we still owe him a round of applause for bringing
the story to our attention and for persisting with it in the face of so many
attacks/
so much negativity. The guy has one thing going for him if nothing else---he
goes his own way and he don't stop.
In a follow up post I'm going to give my top 10 list of things which support
Burnweed and OLS as far as question number one is concerned, is there a hoax?

10. "SYLVAN COMES UP ROSES" Manchester Evening News Headline, ??, 1996.
I don't know the exact date this headline appeared but it blew the minds of the
Onelovestory fans in alt.music.stone-roses and the Roses mailing list. Well
over a year before this headline appeared Burnweed wrote a chapter in The Old
Testament of Onelovestory called "Sylvan, Ian and Tony Z." In that Chapter
Burnweed explains how the word/name SYLVAN (which means, spirit of the
wilderness) came to him as an omen which kept appearing in his life and
directing him. It was one of the main things which gave him the idea and
strength to write ONELOVESTORY. The word was a living symbol to him and it
isn't very common.
Over a year after writing about that (which was a year before Sylvan Richardson
was ever linked with the Roses or Ian Brown) when OLS was becoming something of
an internet phenomenon, that headline appeared in the Manchester Evening News
and it blew all of our minds who were reading OLS like a
serial or comic strip. It was a blast and it tripped my ass out. The headline
refers to Sylvan Richardson as being the person who would replace John Squire
in the Roses. Of course Aziz actually got the job, but Sylvan ended up being
Ian's bass player. I had never even heard of that name before reading OLS. And
since OLS was built upon strange coincidences in Burnweed's life, you can
hardly blame him for freaking out and burning with the story after this
happened. Think about it.

9. "12 YEARS AND OVER"
In the first video for "Love Spreads" there comes an image where the screen is
taken up by a sign for a shooting gallery which says
"12 YEARS AND OVER"
The Roses formed in 1984 and split in 1996. They were around for 12 years and
then it was over. But this video was made in 1994, two years before they split
up, so either it's a coincidence that they were 12 years and over or they put
that in the video on purpose knowing they were going to break up in 1996. And
the same is true of the Sylvan thing. It's a very strange coincidence or it was
done on purpose to bolster OLS, to give Burnweed ammunition.

8. "Zip It Weedbrain That's Exposed The Stone Roses Plans For World
Domination."
In the December, 1995, issue of Select Magazine, the Roses are on the cover.
This is a full year after they have returned and seven months after Burnweed
first wrote The Old Testament of Onelovestory. OLS was very fresh and new at
that time. The cover is like a comic book cover. It looks so cool. Ian is
saying, "We've got to blow people's heads off!" And Mani is thinking, "Zip It
Weedbrain That's Exposed The Stone Roses Plans for World Domination." Mani has
his finger over his lips as if he's telling Weedbrain to be quiet. When you
open the magazine up to the interview Mani has his finger pointing right at the
you, or somebody reading the magazine, not at Ian. And the next picture shows
Mani winking in a knowing look.
You should have seen the people freaking out. The fans of OLS were adamant that
Weedbrain=Burnweed. After all, Burnweed was trying to convince everybody that
the Roses had a plan for world domination and there it was on the cover. The
skeptics argued that mani is talking to Ian and calling Ian Weedbrain, but Ian
had just done an interview where he said he hadn't smoked weed in nine months.
Anyway, I'm sure you can all understand that this was an interesting
development in the story.
Also, when you open the article up, you see John Squire screaming at you,
"Hello, hello, it's good to be back!!!" That is from the first song on Oasis'
WTSMG, the song called "Hello."
The lyrics to that song go like this:
"we live in the shadows and we had the chance and threw it away, and it's never
gonna be the same, cause the years are falling by like the rain..."
For the sake of argument, if Burny is right and there is a concept involving
the Roses orchestrating their own demise, and using Oasis to sing about it,
then this makes sense. The Roses had the chance and they threw it away. For
five years they lived in the shadows hence "the years are falling by like the
rain." But the
chorus goes, "hello, hello it's good to be back." And that is what John Squire
is screaming in the photo in this article. Couple that with what's on the cover
and you have to wonder.
[you can see the cover here
http://www.thestoneroses.co.uk/magazines.htm ]
There's also this bit in the article where Ian is heard to be singing an
unknown song with the words "illy, illy, illy." Burnweed's real name is Lee,
and he is ill. The
writer asked Ian about the song but Ian said he couldn't place the name or the
group who sung it. Could "illy" be Ill Lee? I don't know what it all means but
I think you all would enjoy having a look at this issue of Select especially
considering what happened in the issue before it, which is the subject of
number 7.

7. "All the songs are connected in a spiritual riddle." Noel Gallagher, around
February, 1996 in an interview on AOL.
Burnweed wrote The first part of OLS from an AOL account, Burn...@aol.com. In
this interview Noel was asked about the November, 1995, issue of Select
Magazine, the issue just before the Zip It Weedbrain one came out with the
Roses on the cover. In that November issue Oasis were on the cover. In the
interview Noel explains that there is a total concept to WTSMG and that all the
songs are connected. A few months later in the AOL online interview Noel is
asked about the concept and what it all means. To this question he answers,
"All the songs are connected in a spiritual riddle."
For months before either of these two issues of Select came out or Noel did
this interview on AOL, Burnweed had prophecized(?) about WTSMG being part of
OLS, connected through the lyrics, and as you all know by now, Burnweed claims
that the concept is spiritually based, and lo and behold we have Noel saying
that Burnweed is right, there is a spiritual riddle. Noel says this twice in
the interview and the whole article in Select is based around him explaining
that there is a concept. And Burnweed called it before any of this came out.
You could argue that Noel was winding Burnweed up, but the connections ARE
there and they aren't tenuous.
For instance, the use of the the name Sally in "Don't Look Back in Anger."
"So Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as we're walking on by..."
Burnweed argues that Sally = Sally Cinnamon
and that Oasis are walking on by the Roses who it's now too late for, who are
over. This connects easily with the lyrics from "Hello" which I've already
quoted, "We live in the shadows and we had the chance and threw it away."
Further ammunition comes when you examine the two live videos of Oasis, "There
and Then" and "Live by The Sea" where Burnweed exposes the fact that Noel is
playing Sally Cinnamon at the end of Acquiesce. This is true. You can hear it
for yourself and Burnweed brought this out. The Oasis newsgroup didn't
know about it, nobody did. It is very subtle until you know what you're
listening for and then it's obvious that he's playing it. Burnweed then ties
all of the songs together on WTSMG and the b-sides and the connections are
frighteningly accurate. But I don't want to rewrite the book. Don't make the
mistake that what I'm writing about is the whole story, there are literally
hundreds of clues Burnweed points out, I'm just telling you about the ones I
was most impressed by.

It's also interesting to note, in light of Burnweed's connecting Sally to the
Roses and Oasis that the song "Love is the Law" has the line
"Strap on Sally chased us down the alley, we feared for our behinds, Oasis was
a shop with shoes so hot, they were bound to blow your mind."
[recently Ian Brown did an oline interview that many people from amsr
participated in. During that interview he was asked what the song Sally
Cinnamon was about:
Jon: Who or what is Sally Cinnamon apart from the best pop song ever?
Ian: A fictitious lesbian. The song’s about picking someone's pocket on a
train and finding a love letter from one girl to another.
read it here
http://www.music365.co.uk/autocontent/community_024317.htm
Burnweed pointed out that a lesbian would use a strap on, hee hee, and
therefore strap on sally in The Seahorses song is a connection to Sally
Cinnamon, the roses song, because that is about a fictitious lesbian. Ok, now
look at the line about oasis. Oasis also sing about Sally in DLBIA, "So Sally
can wait she knows it's too late" ]
Burnweed argues that shoes=tunes
[oasis is a tune factory]
And there is more strength to that argument when you analyse the lyrics to
"Magic Pie" by Oasis
"I dig his friends, I dig his shoes, he is like a child with nothing to lose
but his mind"
Is this Burnweed he's referring to?
The next line goes
"I dig their friends, I dig their shoes, they are like a child with nothimg to
lose but their minds."
Is this the Roses? Does shoes=tunes?
[now look at the lyrics to Solve My Mystery, and the title of the song]
Love is the Law comes from the song "Daybreak" by the Roses too. Also, this
song was debuted on Radio one in the UK on April Fools day 1997.
This is interesting because Burnweed argues that Reni left on April 1, 1995 and
that John squire left the Roses on April 1, 1996. April 1st is the ultimate day
to pull a hoax. There are arguments both for and against those dates but that's
what makes OLS so obvious and so hidden. If you isolate one clue there is a way
to explain it away, but when you examine the evidence in total it gets really
trippy.

6. "This One's For Lee."
At Knebworth, the only shows where John Squire played on stage with Oasis,
right before "Cigarettes and Alcohol" is played, Noel or Liam, I'm not sure
which one states, "This One's For Lee." Nobody knows for sure if that was meant
for Burnweed, but Oasis have never explained who it was meant for and none of
the Oasis fans came up with a better idea. Also, just before Oasis play "Live
Forever" Liam says, "This one's for the cat in the hat." This is interesting
because Burny was writing OLS for a while as a character called THE LORAX who
is from a Dr. Seuss book. The "Cat in the Hat" is a very famous Dr. Seuss book.
Is the cat in the hat Reni? I don't know, but "This one's for Lee" is a good
mystery.
John Squire played "I am the Walrus" with Oasis that night. That was a major
song in the Beatles mystery around whether Paul was dead. In "Glass Onion" by
The Beatles John sings, "here's another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul."

5. "I'd like to carry on with one that I wrote."
When Noel did an unplugged session for MTV, he did it alone. By this time in
the story Burnweed had made the most outrageous accusation that the Roses had
written WTSMG for Oasis and supported the theory with some killer analysis that
you should examine for yourself. Just before Noel sings, "Cast No Shadow" he
says to the audience, "I'd like to carry on with one that I wrote."
One simple question, if Noel wrote all the songs he played that night why would
he say that he wanted to carry one with one that he wrote? Did he write "Cast
No Shadow" but not the rest of the songs? I don't know but the statement
certainly supports Burnweed.
"As he faced the sun he cast no shadow."
Burnweed claims that one who is in spirit would not cast a shadow. He claims
that John Squire is a spirit. My own analysis, I humbly profer, is even
better---if WTSMG is about the Roses demise and the ascent of Oasis then it
could mean that John Squire and for that matter the Roses in general who once
cast a
huge shadow over the music scene, meaning they had a huge presence, are now
casting no shadow meaning they have no presence, they are dead. If you examine
the lyrics to the Roses song, "Tears" a VERY interesting connection appears
"I cast a shorter shadow with every passing day, no time to think I'm just
fading away."
"As he faced the sun he cast no shadow."
"I'd like to carry on with one that I wrote."
C'mon, what is the fucking story?

4. The Ian Brown Web Site Mystery
Recently, when John Squire ended The Seahorses a bunch of "Roses to reform"
rumours began. Then an official announcement by "a spokesperson for Ian Brown"
was posted at Ian's web site stating that the rumours were false and unfounded.
Burnweed made an official OLS announcement that people should ignore that
message at the web site. He predicted that Ian Borwn had nothing to do with
that
statement and that it was a mistake. I have to admit, I was not very convinced
that Burnweed was right about that as the message was part of Ian's official
page. NME had a story about the denial and then a week later the message
vanished mysteriously from the newspage. All the rest of the news was left
at the site but the reformation denial was gone and there was a story about its
mysterious disappearance at NME.COM. You can still read the story now.
Burnweed was right on the money on that one. He said that denial was bullshit
and that it should be ignored and then it was removed a week later. That was
phat! That was when I started to believe again.

3. The song "King Monkey" by The Spacemonkeys
This record came out well before "Unfinished Monkey Business," when many people
didn't know that King Monkey was Ian's nickname.
Check out the lyrics
well you know you want my banana
as you dose in your cozy pajama
and you float around my head like pirahna
on the prowl
well I feel like a man in a midget
there's a bust in my heart can you stitch it
and the pussycat's starting to fidget
with the owl
who said that it was gonna be easy
you got brains should know not try to please me
....
I got a license to drive you up the wall
I'm the one they call, king monkey
I'm king monkey, I'm king monkey
[there's also the following verse in that song
don't need to start a revolution
in my mind's a flower of solution
just got to plant a lot of seed
love and peace is what we need
you've got to live life to gain illumination
Momma left me at the soul station
all this aint helping much at all
but I'm the one they call King Monkey
I'm King MOnkey, I'm King Monkey
"So I start a revolution from my bed"]
There are more lyrics but those are the pertinent ones. Burny argues that like
Oasis, the Spacemonkeys are part the hoax and that this song was written by
Ian. Well, if it's not written by him, it's about him. The artwork to the
single is strange and the lyrics to the other songs on it are very interesting.
But if this post makes you go out and get this single I'll be happy because I
fucking love this song, this single, "Blowin Down The Stylus" by The
Spacemonkeys is awesome. I think Roses and Oasis fans will adore it.

There's really no need to talk about all of Burnweed's religious stuff. I would
really like to have an educated discussion about these clues and the first
question, is there a concept/hoax?
I don't see the need to confuse the issue. IF all of this is happening and
Burnweed is trying to tell us something but can't get it through, this would
drive any of us mad. What if it were you who spotted this? Would you have the
guts to play the role in the game that Burnweed has? Would you have had the
ability to spread the word so that all of us are discussing it now? I don't
think I would have. I would have talked about it with my friends, they would
have said I was nuts and I would have let it go.
Burnweed, if you're reading this. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Peace to you too.
