I was wondering if their was a way of ripping(or just playing) a DualDisc??? I just got the new Springsteen album and can't get the album to play on any of my computers (PC or Mac)... I was hoping their might be a workaround.

When I put the cd in my PC's it allows access to the drive but I can't view any of the files. In Nero when I click on the drive it skips back to a fixed drive. On the Mac I can't even mount the drive when I put it into the drive it just spits it back out???

I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance - CES

In the mean time I highly encourage everyone to STEAL Springsteen's music!!!!!!

On the PC you might try using CDex (on the CD side, that is). Sometimes
that works when nothing else seems to.

Even AMG has reported that this disc is apparently heavily copy-
protected. More of that "I never held a real job but I'm the voice of
the working-man" attitude of da Boss.

Try downloading it from a binary group. It's already been posted about
ten times.

DualDisc is a copy protected format. As such, it's a newly developed
combination of CD and DVD (each on one side of the same disc). The
fact that it is not strictly a Compact Disc when intepreting the standard
gives them a convenient excuse for adding the copy protection as well
while avoiding the negative attention it might have drawn:

1. There's a warning saying that not all audio players will play CD side
- They say it's because the combo disc is thicker than a CD
- In fact it's because CD side contains copy control technology

2. The DualDisc CD side can only contain 60 minutes of audio
- They say it's because of limitations in manufacturing process
- In fact ~200MB is needed for the copy control technology

Of course, the consumer is free to decide if the price of having to use
the copy control technology outweights the fact that the DVD side can
contain truly nice and high quality extras (I have the newest Judas Priest
on a DualDisc, and at least it has) .

Wording aside (namely, exercising one's legal [at least in Europe] rights
of private copying should not be called "stealing"), this is the attitude
that
I, too, have towards all copy control technology on CD.

For what it's worth, I rip DualDiscs in real time using optical (TOSLink)
transfer directly from the CD to an Edirol UA-3 audio interface, and then
burn a CD from the result to avoid having to rip in real time the next time.

(It's ironical, that the very presence of copy control technology forces
me to make a copy, since I won't bother copying regular CD's because
they can readily be used to upload to e.g. my MP3 players.)
