Creative Nomad -- how to get artist info from folder names?

I just got a Creative Nomad 3 for my birthday! I have an existing mp3
music collection and I want to move the songs onto the new mp3 player.
The problem is that the info is saved as artist\album\song-title. For
example, "Alanis Morissette\Under Rug Swept\03-Hands Clean.mp3". When
I try to transfer the Alanis Morisette folder over, the program won't
let me. I can, however, send the album over. The problem here is that
it can't figure out the artist name -- it uses the name of the folder
both for the album name and for the artist name.

Is there a way to get Creative to recognize the names of the artists
plus the album titles? I tried ripping a CD using PlayCenter. When I
tried transferring this folder over to the Nomad, it didn't figure out
the artist name/title name, either. It only works when coming off of
the database ... not coming off of a foldername.
Any tips on getting my existing library into the Nomad would be
appreciated!
