it's one thing to be a star trek fan... but to actually *think* you're a
klingon.. that's a bit much. none of us here actually *think* we're monkees
(at least no one has spoken up yet).

you know, mr. klingon.. you've never said one intelligent comment on amm. i
can't recall even one post remotely about the monkees. if amm is dead, then
why don't you go find a newsgroup with some more life to it.

True, but there are a lot of disturbed fans who think they are Mrs.<insert
favorite monkee> and take
on their last name. I have a stack of letters from these people (requesting
videos and tapes) where the return address has either a Dolenz, Tork, Nesmith or
Jones surname attached to it. It's SO sad.

Bolth are equally sad and pathetic. But what used to really gall me was the
small circle of high school friends with whom I associated. They were all into
Star Trek, and I wasn't. They would ridicule me and criticize me because I
collected the Three Stooges shorts, for example (I eventually did get them
all). Yet, these were the same folks who HAD to line up ahead of time to get
their tix to see the latest new Star Trek movie the day it was released. The
only difference was that the Star Trek fans were fortunate enough to hook up
with 5 or 6 others with whom to share their fandom. There is no difference.

Though, I am not familiar with these Romulans that poke Targs.
Obviously, they must be doing it while the Targ is tied down or dead.
Romulans have not the courage to do so with a live, urestrained, Targ.

The Monkees as we know, no longer exist. Micky and Davy are not the
Monkees, nor are they the stars of the Monkees. The stars of the
Monkees are Peter, Mike , Micky and Davy. This newsgroup has been
reduced to talk about trouts, lifeboy, harmony hut and other such
drivel that really should be in private email. And some of the people
really need to get a grip and move on. The Monkees are DOA.

Actually no not in that order. It always had been Davy and MIcky ( most popular) peter then
mike.

They are not DOA, they are still popular and still have a big following. They all may not be
together but at least people still know who they are. I can think of hundreds of singers,
bands etc that are now unknown that were known at their time. None of them are together nor do
they still have a fan following.

For the love of Pete! If you think we're your puppets, good for you! ANYONE
can do what you did. I don't think anyone's trying to be "heroic" either.
It's never worked; it never will. You're not the only one posting here either,
pal. This ain't the only active thread, and it's not like we can't start
another. The reason they are posting here is 'cause you're so damn amusing
doubling as a Klingon and a "Troll." (A Troll, BTW Mr. Warrior, is a term used
to describe someone who is pretty much making trouble, causing ruckus, or
otherwise on a newsgroup, regardless of what planet they're from.)

Don't think you're getting everyone mad or playing everyone for saps.

Davy and Micky do not make up the Monkees and are not the Monkees. The
Monkees consist of 4 guys. Peter, Mike, Micky and Davy. When you take
away any one or any two of the that combination, then the Monkees do
not exist.

It seems to me, I don't hear this speach regarding Jan Chilton and her
posts against me. When I misbehave, I am told to lighten up, but when
jan chilton makes really over the line remarks towards me, you all
think it is funny. Double standards.

> And linda LIGHTEN UP.
I don't need to, I realize the Monkees no longer exist as they were
once known. And I don't have a worship site anywhere equating any of
these men with GOD. That person needs to lighten up and get a grip big
time.

Ok, it was fun for like 5 seconds. Star Trek is wonderful, but it's
NOT REAL. There's no such thing as Klingons, however cool they may

Sorry? I feel more sorry for isolated newbies who would come in and believe
a.m.m. a friendly place to "meet" other Monkee fans than I do for those
who are "harassers". But you know not everything is what it's cracked
up to be. A lot of us who are ignoring these spats have given up on
chasing "harassers" away. Unless a U.S. Marshal has a right to stop
"harassers" from repeating their offensive behavior on a newsgroup,
it's pointless (maybe unless one's a masochist) to go after "harassers" on usenet
with a vengeance. Kind of like going after spammers with a vengeance.

To make a point about <ahem> aliases? To send posts so "Jan" won't receive
replies in her permanent inbox? <shrug> I don't know why she's considering
that *everybody* should be on her side, when only one or two were "flaming" her.

I swear, I come in from work, log on, make the mistake of checking the

First of all, thank you Donna for vote of confidence. Secondly, to -To-

newsgroup, I use my real email address. I've got enough spam

it. No, my cat, Cal does not go on the AMM. She does occasionally scan
alt.Cats, but since she didn't get any further than kindergarten, she
types and spells like the idiot that "this" Cal decided to answer.
Because of that, I don't usually allow her to post on any newsgroups.

And to the real Cal, I appreciate the thought, anyway.

Jan, I'm not a net newbie. I know how to read a header. I spent years
as a channel owner on IRC, identifying troublemakers who cluelessly
thought they were anonymous, and writing bans based on IP addresses.
It's second nature for me to look up the IP on a suspicious post from
someone new.

That's why I noticed, a couple of posts ago, that Cal was posting from
a small, local ISP in South Carolina - sccoast.com, the same ISP you
use. Now, that alone is not proof of anything. It is within the realm
of possibility that two people on the same newsgroup, sharing the same
angry vendetta and phrasing, might both live in the same area, and use
the same ISP. It's not likely, but it could happen. Heck, my husband
and I use the same account, formerly on a small, regional ISP, so
we're proof it happens.

After "Cal's" last strangely angry post, I was curious enough about
the source to spend five minutes on Google, looking up her posting
history. Which led me to a thread in comp.music.midi called "Total
lack of knowledge". I suggest that anyone who doubts me read the
entire six-post thread, to see how Cal (daydr...@97rock.com) and
Jan (luv...@sccoast.net) post interchangeably, as one person. "Cal"
signs her post "Jan." Jan says that Cal is her cat. It's pretty
compelling evidence.

I usually don't blow the whistle on the fake identities I see here.
It's amusing, more than anything. It's not funny, this time.

On what account, specifically?

Oh, I see. It's on other newsgroups that you use a different address.

> I've got enough spam

Then whoever uses the 97coast.com account coincidentally signs Jan,
and you happen to come across the post in another newsgroup that
asked a question you too were wondering about AND wanted to add
something to the effect of "hey! My cat's named Cal! (and my name is Jan too!)",
eh?

You're going to have to find someone else to be your knight(ess) in shining
armour for your a.m.m. spats. Maybe if you made us believe you're Annabelle
Jones who wanted to point out a certain dislike for a certain poster, maybe
more people will rally to your cause. You might want to get a national
account like AOL or Prodigy or Gateway, and use a dialup in another state,
so it can't be traceable.

The point of not responding to each other is exactly that. You have ran
out of excuses, "but I'm always getting blamed for these things, not her"
you want to not be called out? Flame people who side with
the Monkee you most hate. Then, when you tell people to shut
up, they probably will (except for a few).

Thanks, --to-- for exposing this charade. Yes, maybe it is "coincidental"
but I tend to believe the pros like -to-, estrella, ns, davi3d and a few
others that have been here for many years and know their way around the
internet. When I first came to amm I learned a great deal about the
Monkees from the above mentioned people. Now all I see is bickering and
catfighting among "the newer people" over things that don't even concern the
Monkees. This place has become a farce. ---armstrong---

Well, you are at least partly right. sccoast.net is a local isp. It
IS, however, not small. It entails the entire area of Horry County,
which I do believe has been said to be bigger than one or two of the
smaller states.

What you didn't take into account, and what I did not mention (or
dispute) was that I might KNOW this Cal person....and not as my own cat.
It DOES happen to be a friend of mine, and when that post on the MP3's
that you so diligently found was made, I was at their house, on their
computer. They don't live particularly close or far away...about 40
miles from me.

I hope you enjoyed blowing this wide open. But you should get ALL the
facts before you start stating things that you might not know the
answers to.

All I looked at was the email addy and looked at the host of the email
server. I hadn't searched the ISP info yet. (Break in the weather... I HAD
to ride, -to-! SURELY you understand THAT! *grin*) I just think that
whomever Cal is should step up and say who they are. If that's Jan (and
she's offered an explaination below and she hasn't lied to me in the past,
just as -to- hasn't nor has Estrella) then she should say "Cal is me, I did
it, I'm sorry." If it's somebody else, they should come in, say "Yeah, hi,

"Small" is in the eye of the beholder. I'm from California (34 million
residents, vs 4 million in SC), so a county - or even a city - with a
population of 200,000 is small to me. A local ISP which services a
population that size is very small indeed.

I'll say Cal is me. My name is Jeri, and I live in Conway, SC. If
you think I'm going to put my server email on here and have the
fruitcake mail bombing me, it ain't gonna happen.

And I'm not sorry for anything I've written. It was well deserved.
What I will do, however, is bow out before I do any more damage to
Jan. I "am" sorry for getting her in the middle of this, and I do
apologize to her beautiful calico cat for borrowing her name.

Sorry, Jan. Fight the good fight.

Oh, of course!! And since sccoast.net bills by the millisecond, "they" allowed
you to access their google account (which they happened to log into at
that day and time) even though you (at that particular period of last
year) were accessing the ngs through groups.google.com as well. It's
understandable, I shared lockers with me amiga in junior high. 8)

Oh, you're welcome!! Maybe if somebody didn't withhold information,
this would have been blown wide closed. By the by, it appears some
posts were mysteriously nixed from google's newserver, though magically
they can be read on other newsgroup servers (ain't technology great?).

Nothing, it's just all thoroughly entertaining. I wonder if Jan is going to
devulge to us that she did in fact use that google account last year, but gave it
to her friend Cal/Jeri so she can enjoy the mail and newsgroup experience as
well. <sinicker> Just like one of them mystery weekend getaways, the clues start

What on earth are you trying to say here? sccoast bills by the
millisecond????
Our ISP is unlimited usage for a flat price, just like most all of
them are.
I've read this 5 times, and still don't know what you're getting at.

Oh, yes, they were...by both of us. You've alerted all the psychos
now as how to look up stuff. I'll be followed to every newsgroup I
step foot into, as will she. I had to give up on alt.cats because of
this already. Google is about the only method of doing that, so it's
just a bit of CYA on our parts.

And by the way, I'm accessing this time through Google. What did this
prove?
I used to have the Google user addy of luvdavy @ hotmail until
"somebody" managed to forge enough stuff to get them to shut it down.

For somebody who bitches about the off topic arguing, you've certainly
taken this one for a ride.

I need a little more convincing than a reply from Cal's Google
account, so here's a question for either of you:

Why did Jan use your (Cal/Jeri's) Google account to post to
comp.music.midi? Why didn't she just use her regular news account to
post, since you use the same ISP? It would only require changing a
couple of settings in your newsreader. If I had a guest in my home,
using my computer, I'd gladly set it up for them. If for no other
reason, to prevent what happened here.

-to-,
I'm tired of arguing about all of this, but to satisfy you, I'll repeat
what I've said several times on here.

I use Netscape on my computer at home. That is my newsreader, and my
mail reader. You can't access that from anywhere else. I suppose we
could have dialed in using my user name from her home, but why would we
have? I don't even know how to set up Outlook Express. I wasn't
thinking about protecting myself from this when I was inquiring about
that stupid MP3.

Nobody on the AMM except Jan B and Karen really knows me. But there are
many other fans out there that do...ALOT. And any of them will tell you
that I am ANYTHING but cruel. I've helped build websites, given photos
to, and done anything I ever could to help anybody I've ever "met"
online. My stupid soft heart is exactly what got me into this
predicament. I would have given anything if Linda would have shut up
and left me alone. I would never have even mentioned her again. I've
never in my life ever met such a persistant pain in the butt.

If you want to believe that I'm some kind of vicious person, then I
can't help that. I'm tired of defending myself to people that I don't
know and will probably never meet. One of these days you may be on the
receiving end, and you'll understand.
