whoever said "it sucked" should post his own "art school portfolio" for
group criticism.

yeah, if you don't have your own art then you have no right to have an opinion.

Why Should he? It's one thing if Jaeger kept his artwork to himself, but he
puts it out there on the market (and on the www), and pawns if off.... which is
fine, but it opens the door for criticism on him. Lets can the PC bullshit, eh

Who said that I didn't have my own artwork? I apologize if I don't sell it and
brag about it on the internet, but I think that whatshisface's artwork sucks.
As an "ARTIST" I am entitled to that opinion. Some of his oil work is pretty
good, but shit, his pen and ink artwork appears as though he's never had a day
of life drawing. And yeah, I do go to art school, for animation, but I could
still draw "evil" looking shit better than this guy. The guy who did the
character concept sketches for Barney probably could. I didn't know that
saying that somebody's artwork sucks is against the law in this dying... let me
rephrase that... dead newsgroup. My many humble apologies.

if you go to art (or any) school, you should know the refrain about
learning the rules in order to break them.

Andoo, we know you're upset about 12 Hits not coming out, but do you have
to take it out on a fellow artist? don't you have a wall to punch instead?

cheers

So you are comparing this guy to Picasso? Or Max Beckman? Or, lets say, John
Kenset? What a joke. This guy is like a comic book artist gone horribly
wrong. There is nothing fine art about this guy, RYQ. I don't appreciate you
spewing your cherry-scented butt tonic all over my points of view, just because
you feel threatened that you can't see what is horribly wrong with his artwork.
If he has any problems with my criticism, he can address me. I don't believe
I was talking to any of you.

<< life drawing >>

I hate to say it, but you have to learn the rules before you break them. You
were right, RYQ. However, this guy appears to have never learned life drawing
skills, therefore he hasn't LEARNED to BREAK. I hardly doubt this artist is
attempting to be abstract or representational, and if he was perhaps I could
see your point (?). Abstraction is not arbitrary, it is a breakdown of
mathematical principals of measurement and the dealing with each composition
with a set visual formula to ensure balance. I will stick to my original
point, he needs to take some life drawing classes. They help your powers of
observation and once you learn how to observe how things work... and only then,
may you distort them.

Oh yeah, suck on these nuts.

It's also not called "taking it out on a fellow artist." I am offering my
point of view of his artwork. In my opinion, it sucks. You, RYQTpie, are
entitled to think that his work is the cat's ass if you so desire. I don't
consider myself a "fellow artist" with anybody, I am an artist, and there are
other artists out there that have different (or much different) views from what
I think that art is. That is fine by me.

His artwork sucks whether you're an artist or not. He has no concept of
perspective, proportion, or the human anatomy. Especially anatomical
symmetry. Shouldn't one's eyes be in the same spot on either side of the
head?

did you email him directly? it's usually much more effective, because
this guy might not have the "eyes and ears" resources that Jerry has.

that is because it is really called "ryq posted something tongue-in-cheek,
and Andy should re-read it and take it as a joke".

you don't have to know any rules, period. "breaking" the rules means you
believe there are rules. that's bullshit.
