A gig just showed up on Pollstar: 6/16 at The Glenn in Austin. Melissa,
do you know the scoop?

Well, if it's accurate we know at least two people who will be there - right
Melissa?

That link only shows thru March. Willie's gonna be there some...
How do you get to June?

Beats me. I clicked and clicked. not a great Web site but it sure looks
like a nice venue.

OK, OK, I'm here! Sorry, I've been trying to get my heart palpitations
under control since I learned of the Austin gig a few hours ago! :)

So. "The Backyard" is a very nice outdoor venue and "The Glenn at The
Backyard" is the new addition right next to the original venue. They
are open from March through October, so they are closed at the present
time. But, never fear, I'll find somebody there and get all the scoop!
I saw Alison Krauss there last year and it was very cool. Lots of big
oak trees to provide shade and lots of bars to provide, um, well, a
nice mellow atmosphere! ;)

I know, from past experience, that sometimes these gigs don't pan out.
And I know that Gord and the guys are usually interested in having
enough gigs in the area to make it worthwhile to make the long trek
down here. So I'm hoping that, if they're working on additional gigs
in the Texas area, they all work out. Gord hasn't been here in about
25 years or so, so it would be awesome to see him here.

Gord in Austin. Whoo-hoo! :)

Breathe, Melissa, breathe....

Sounds similar to Humphrey's By The Bay except on a larger scale and with
live oaks and ponds instead of palm trees and the marina :-)

I hope it works out, MJ, sounds like a magical place to see a Lightfoot
show - or any show for that matter.

I've talked to about 25 people today - various friends who have, over
the years, said, "hey, if Gordon Lightfoot ever comes to Austin again,
I'd definitely go to see him!" (one is a former U. S. Congressman!)
And they're all excited about the June concert. Are you listening,
Barry? Stephan? Etc.? Don't let this one get away! :)

Actually, Janice, it's smaller than Humphrey's (I think). The main
venue area is about the same as Humphrey's, and I think this new venue,
"The Glenn," where Gord is booked, is a bit smaller. Not positive
about that, as I've yet to see the new space.

Anyway, it sounds wonderful, and I sure hope it happens!

Melissa :)

Got it from a reliable source that Gord and company want to do about 45
shows this year so it appears that there is more to come. Wayne's site
lists a little over 20 so far, so I would keep close watch on the tour
schedule. And , of course, keep your fingers crossed he comes to your
area!

I wish he'd do the Eastern Canada shows he had planned before he got sick.

see his new page
http://www.lightfoot.ca/2007.htm
which lists:-

but...but... Bass is in Cowtown! (Ft. Worth)
Are we gonna have an earthquake? Is Wayne gonna win the JREF $1000000
prize for psychic phenomena?
I hope so!
This will be GOOOOOOOODDDDD!

This is what I call really planning ahead. I thought buying Neil Diamond
tickets 4 months in advance was a stretch.

Uh, oh - I'd better get started right away!
Um, I need a bigger house!
I need more guitars!
