Here are the "official" lyrics. I think it is about someone in a
coma/vegatative state and what they may think, if their brain works
while under. Hope this helps.

8. Beyond The Realms Of Death

[Binks/Halford]

He had enough
He couldn't take anymore
He'd found a place
In his mind and slammed the door
No matter how they tried
They couldn't understand
They washed and dressed him
Fed him by hand

Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you

Withdrawn he'd sit there
Stare blank into space
No sign of life
Would flicker on his face
Until one day he smiled
It seemed as though with pride
The wind kissed him
Goodbye - and then he died

Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you

Keep the world with all its sin
It's not fit for livin' in
Yeah! I will start again
It can take forever, and ever, and ever
And ever, but I'll still win.

[SOLO (Glenn)]

How many like him,
Are there still
But to us, all
Seem to have lost the will
They lie in thousands
Plagued and lost
Is nothing worth this bitter cost

Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you

Keep the world with all its sin
It's not fit for livin' in

[SOLO (K.K.)]

Beoynd the realms of death.

I've always thought it was about someone who was invalid, perhaps like
you say in a near coma like state who existed but could not
participate in life. One day he summons enough strength to end his
own life and in so doing he controls his own final destiny.
Something like that. I've always thought it was suicide in part due
to the line "it's my life I'll decide not you.."

Halford rarely (Nostradamus being an exception to the rule) come out
and fully explain the meaning of their lyrics.

I think they like to leave it open to discussion and such. Of course
some of their songs leave little to the imagination.

There's two versions of the lyrics with one version being on
judaspriest.com under the Discography for Stained Class and the other
version on halford.com... and a third and very inaccurate version is
on the the Priest: Live and Rare! album with several changes in
lyrics such as "I'm sick here in my mind".

that's interesting sort of, and you can probably find other poorly
transcribed lyrics on the various internet lyric sites, but there is
only one version of the lyrics to that song.
