Dude, you need to search around more. I just checked on Amazon.com (did a
search there), and they have Opeth's "Still Life" *in stock*, and shipping
within 24hrs of your order. The price, $12.98.
Also checked there for the "limited edition" 2cd Blackwater Park. Yep, sure
enough I found it, however it only ships after 5 to 6 days. The price on
that one is $32.49 (pretty steep!).
But I bet you're only interested in buying CD's from your local music store
in bad music town heh ;-)
You can't expet to find limited 2CD versions of albums that came out years
ago! And if the CDs are out of print you can always check eBay, or import
them from Europe (they're definitely not OOP here).

The copy of the 2cd Blackwater Park I found available on Amazon.com is an
import (which is why it costs so much), plus I also checked out one of the
local import music stores down here in Aus. (Utopia), and they have it
available as well (cheaper than Amazon I might also add).
As for Tom's vision of being able to walk into his local CD barn and being
able to just pick up an album such as that one mentioned, straight outta the
racks, I mean it is a tad unrealistic. Opeth are definately not mainstream,
so he'd be hard pressed to find any small CD retailer stocking such albums.
Local music retailers are more interested in selling popular music, stuff
which really sells. Nowadays I don't even purchase music from my local
crappy CD shop, they just don't stock (or get in) the music I like. For me,
it's strictly purchasing from specialist retailers (like Utopia), and other
places like Amazon. At least that way I get the albums I really want, rather
than going into the local CD store, and out of desperation having to buy
some nu-metal crap like Korn, just because they have these overheads
advertising the album, and plenty of copies of that album. Ew!
You could more than likely find used copies of Still Life and BP fairly
cheap as well. They are the most comprehensive and largest online music
store in the world.
The Insistor
Wow what a good resource. Thanks for the link Insistor, I certainly didn't
know about that one :-)
Yeah, there's nothing like getting the CD right then and there.
However, I'd order through the mail occasionally. I got the first two
Opeth CD's from Century Media's direct website mailorder business.
They don't carry the newer Opeth CD's though.
Tom
I want to thank all for the offers of help. The situation isn't as
bleak as first thought. I went to several local shops recently and was
able to find a lot more than I expected on the Opeth front. Almost all
of them had more than one CD of the new album Deliverance. One of them
had the 2 CD Blackwater Park. One other one had Morningrise. But no
Still life.
It is a backwater piss poor music city with all the local radio
stations playing either 30 year old classic rock or 20 year old
classic rock, and the typical top 40 crap. However there is a couple
of college radio stations that occasionally play some euro-metal.

See above for rebuttal. You never really know what you might find
when you get out and look.

Nothing forces you to buy anything you don't want to buy.

Hmmm, just had a look on Barnes and Noble, and they have Still Life
available as well. Same price as Amazon, $12.98, however ships within 2-3
days of order.

So that's two places you can get a copy from. It's not as scarce as you may
have thought ;-)
