Hope everyone has a great Christmas.
Tom
NP-TSO Christmas Eve. Sort of the traditional Christmas music I listen
to each year.
Wow a very metal Christmas!! Hope you and everyone else is having a
great day. I just got through a Shrimp cocktail argument with the
family. It's like it's Christmas but people are arguing about Shrimp
cocktail.. bring on booze I say, it's the only thing that saves family
get togethers for me.
Wild Turkey.
Tom
Just a suggestion.

e. will be happy to know I think the Kansas albums have a timeless
appeal to me. He has said he thinks they're awesome and such many
times.
Tom
I now have 2 CD's of Masque.
I bought myself an Ipod Touch for Xmas. I was surprised how generous I was.
Arguments get better the more you drink! Due to various work cock ups and
other such stuff I haven`t seen any of my family today, been a bit of an odd
Xmas but I`ve filled it with plenty of loud metal and am out for the day
tomorrow...I`ve never had so much time off over Xmas, certainly don`t miss
taxi driving this time of the year!!
xmas playlist
Judas Priest-SC
Skeletonwitch-BtF
Wolf-Ravenous
Scar Symmetry- Dark matter Dimensions
back to some Xmas stuff, then it's bloody mary and NFL time tonight,
have a nice day all.
btw rented public enemies last night with J. Depp, good film.
I`ve just put a Sony blu-ray player into my amazon basket, haven`t quite
convinced myself to follow it through yet, it would be a financially unsound
idea haha.
I have one word for you: N.O.V.A. best game ever for the iPod
Touch, you won't be sorry:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcjxYPflkc4
I finally broke down and got myself ProTools for the holidays.
Time to take the music production thing to the next level.
e.

getting there!
Make sure its the wireless network kind. That way you don't have to
bother with network cables to update the BR player and view the online
content of some BR movies. I myself have 3 BR players and the PS also.
All are wireless network players and have had no problems with them at
all.
Hmmm, I`ve no idea...it`s a sony BDP360s which has fallen to below 100 on
amazon. I`m very much on a budget to be honest, this one won a best blu-ray
player award this year, presumably within the price range...I can`t really
afford to spend anymore, last job left me in debt!
I'll check it out. I've gone retro so far with Doom and Golden Axe.
Just save a bit more and get a PS3. I got Heavenly Sword for it today.
Would cost about another 150...the xbox more than covers my need for games,
can`t really justify the expense.
I rarely use the PS3 for games. I thought I would when I bought it. I have
49 Xbox games and 5 PS3 games (one of which is the God Of War Collection
from the PS2). Still, it's an all around media machine which is why I was
suggesting it.
Should be fun. Hopefully there's a demo of it. Looks like a budget version
of Halo.
It's awesome. Doom Resurrection is good too (not the old Doom fps),
Dungeon Hunter is a Diablo/Baldurs Gate style game, but NOVA is by
far the best game period.
I suggest you jailbreak it and try out all the games. You can always
un jail break it (aka restore orig settings in iTunes) and/or buy the
games if you like them, but there is a ton of crap on the Iphone/touch
but there are some real gems so you need to try everything. If you
like retro you can install emulators too.
I've had it for less than a week so I probably won't get up the nerve to
jailbreak it yet. My luck I would brick it. Considering how expensive it is
I'll just play with it as it is. Right now I'm enjoying the fact that I can
go online without sitting at my computer. That lightsaber app is nerdy
awesomeness as well.
I'm the opposite, my 360 is gathering dust on my media shelf.
My favourite games are Left4Dead 1 & 2, Halo 3 and Gears of War, none of
which are available on the PS3....and the PS3 doesn`t have many exclusives
I`d be interested in. Most pople I know who have consoles have a 360 as
well...so I`m not sure I`d use a PS3 for much more than the blu-ray. A mate
of mine who had both is the same as Bomber, he only uses it for the blu-ray
and as a browser.
I don't really play many games other than sports games. I am not into
find your way or fighting games or anything like that.
I just like to kill things. Prefer fast paced games as well, none of this
sneaking about nonsense...which is why I love Left4Dead so much, it`s utter
chaos and destruction. I`m sure a psychiatrist would have a field day with
this post!
Damn, you could be more generous, like I-pods for my whole crew.

I got to leave work pretty early Thursday. I only actually listened
to about 3 CD's before leaving.

That sounds like a costly gift, but if you're going to make music,
you probably really want that.

You probably see enough fighting at work to satisfy you. :)
Tom
I am today listening to the BoC stuff. Been a while for the live
album. In fact, probably 5-10 years. I used to like live albums back
in the 80's. But I almost never listen to live albums now. In fact
that JP Touch of Evil probably only has two total plays.
As it is for this BoC and Kansas triple packs, they are only $9 for
3 CD's. The packaging is just cardboard sleeves, but for the price,
you can't hardly beat it.
Tom
I'm generally the same way with games. Kill stuff. I traded in Assassin's
Creed 2 (which sucked) and got Borderlands last week. I'm rather addicted to
that at the moment. I keep buying new games without finishing the previous
ones. I'm backlogged! I bought Mass Effect on Thursday but have no idea when
I'll get around to playing it. It was only $10 so I figured why not? Today
is the biggest shopping day of the year and there wasn't a damn thing worth
buying.
At $400 a pop I can't even afford this one!

Yeah prety much, first of all work told me I had to work Xmas, my family had
made plans to go away so I told them to go ahead and not worry, then I was
told I couldn`t get any Xmas hours, by the time I`d then wangled Xmas Eve
off as well there was no room left for me where they were going. I`m off to
the pub now though so all`s well that ends well!
> I got to leave work pretty early Thursday. I only actually listened

I`ve had 9 days off in a row...then I`m back for 2 and off for another 4!
It`s like being back at school!
Found a store locally selling this blu-ray player for 80 so just treated
myself...come home and ordered the recent 2 Batman films, Hellboy 2 and
Pan`s Labyrinth on blu-ray. I`m such a twat, can`t afford any of it haha.
Yeah, Borderlands looks good...I`ve got a backlog of things to catch up on,
haven`t even played Modern Warfare 2 yet. Assassin`s Creed 2 doesn`t appeal
to me...neither does Mass Effect if I`m honest. Just finished that Halo 3
spin off, took me about a week, glad it was half price!
I hope you have a hi-def tv otherwise they won't look any better than
regular dvds
I hope u have an HDTV, if u don't a BR player and BR DVD's are useless.

I'd send you some money, but with the medicines I have to buy and
hospital bills and doctor office visit bills, I think I have to have
all the money I can get.

My brother bought a 1080 i type 42 inch I believe. He had Survivor
on one day, and I am not so sure I ever want to see survivor in HD
again. All those bug bites and such are so bad looking in regular d,
let alone HD.
Tom
Oh, when I`m there I do 12 hours in a row;;;
Of course I do...by the gods, do you pair think I`m some sort of stupid arse
or something!!!?
Isn`t free medical care imminent your way? This sort of thing has always
been free over here. Welcome to the 21st century! Hope it all works out well
for you...these sort of things always put things in perspective, a blu-ray
player over health is in a different league. My mate here has recently been
diagnosed with diabetes and it hasn`t cost him a penny, I hope the future
holds such fortune for you.

Yeah, that sounds like a real job.
By the way, you have any comments on Kansas? I haven't really seen
any comments on them, I know you do like some 70's bands.

I believe the saying is, you never knew how much health care can
cost until it's free. I assume there will still be lots of bills with
it. And from what I understand, it's not even taking effect until 2013
or something. But we have to start paying right away. I believe that
is why it's not as popular as many people would think it would be.
> This sort of thing has always

I haven't paid much, yet. As I said above, it's not going to be
free. I guess there is supposed to be incentives to get people to buy
health insurance that don't have it now. I don't know many details
because it's not really finalized yet. They have to get the Senate and
House to iron out the differences and then send a final bill to the
President.
I have read that a lot of people who make $75,000 refuse to buy
insurance for some reason. I have insurance, and I've gotten
statements from the insurance company to the tune of what they've
paid, and it's a lot. A hell of a lot. As for your health care, I
assume someone's paying somewhere even if there is no cost to the
average bloke.
Tom

Surely you've heard Carry on My Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind.
ffs these songs have been radio staple since I was a kid.
Really digging Death of Mother Nature Suite, off the first album,
and have stated my like of Masque quite a bit. It has the pretty damn
good Icarus Born on Wings of Steel. Granted there are ballads about on
their albums, and such, but when you can sing like that main guy can,
you expect it.
Really, think you should like these songs.
Tom
Well, over here the national health service has existed since before I was
born...no party would dare to oppose it. It`s one thing the British are
generally proud of. If someone`s ill they get treated, irrespective of their
wealth or social standing. Perhaps it`s just the way things have always been
for me but I can`t undertand how anyone could oppose the idea. Be you left
or right in the UK...the NHS is virtually untouchable. For sure your taxes
go towards it but the government will takes taxes off you irrespective, I
find the idea of someone dying in pain because they can`t afford the
treatment fairly barbaric in the 21st century.
Translation: I hope there's still time to cancel this order! I see our taste
in movies is similar to the music thing. I hated Hellboy and Pan's
Labyrinth. I got Crank on Blu Ray for Xmas.
It's free here as well. I've been lucky so far as I've never been in a
hospital or needed drugs....yet.
Should have bought a 1080p, full hd.
LOL
LOL, Pan`s Labyrinth is one of the greatest films of the last 10 years IMO
and the 2 Hellboy films were just great fun, Never heard of Crank!!
My favourite films ever, off the top of my head, are Dawn of the Dead
(original), Empire Strikes Back, various 80`s horror films (Evil Dead,
Reanimator, Hellraiser etc.), Life of Brian, Eternal Sunshine of the
Spotless Mind, Donnie Darko, Dark City, Being John Malkovich, The Wickerman,
Shaun of the Dead, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (`78), City of God, Leon,
City of God, Eastern Promises, Planet of the Apes (original), Big Fish, 12
Monkeys, Downfall, Edward Scissorhands, Naked Gun, In Bruges... plus I`m a
sucker for superhero fliicks.

Crank was really stupid, but in a funny stupid way. I liked the
artist drawing of the "criminal". That was classic.
Tom

I could have said that up until a few months ago.
I was pretty sick, left untreated, I surely could have died.
Tom
I meant 1080 p, sorry I sort of get those things crossed up. My
other brother and dad both bought plasma type TV's and I don't care
for their picture much. Not sure if they're 1080 p or i.

I`ve mentioned 3. I can`t think of that many comedy films I really like tbh,
plenty of TV comedy but not many movies...the Monty Python films, Naked Gun,
Airplane...all that real stupid stuff...I liked Borat a lot, Dr Strangelove,
Groundhog Day was fun...Zombieland recently gave me a few chuckles...and
some oanimation, Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Shrek etc.
I`ve only seen 3-4 of those and only rate 1 of those very highly...I think
we`re better off talking about music haha!
Just IMDB`d this, doesn`t ring any bells at all...although it does star
Jason Statham who I`m not at all fond of so could explain why it passed me
by.
Heat is a must see(Pacino/Deniro/Kilmer) along with Casino and
Scarface. i love Borat as well. what 3-4 did you see of my list, i
think i know 2 of them?
any man who doesn't like Mob movies is not a man :)
Best get my frock then! If there`s one genre of movies that doesn`t interest
me in the slightest it`s gangster / mob time movies, I just can`t get into
them at all.
I`ve seen Terminator, Interview With a Vampire, Face Off ( which I thought
was rubbish! ) and Gladiator. The one I rate highly is Interview...although
I haven`t seen it in about 15 years. I did love Terminator back in the day
but probably haven`t seen it since the 80`s so my memory is a bit sketchy.
I hated Heat when I saw it in theatres. I watched a couple of years ago and
it wasn't bad. I like Scarface, but Mob movies aren't my thing.
I came close to walking out of the theatre during Pan's Labyrinth. I think
I'd rather watch Labyrinth with David Bowie! Crank is a 'check your brain at
the door' over the top action/comedy. When you've got Quiet Riot playing
during the title sequence (which consists of 80's Nintendo style graphics),
and Loverboy playing during a fight scene where a guy gets his hand cut off
with a cleaver, it's all good.

The Thing is an awesome movie...I hated The Burbs, didn`t even get halfway

Well we got snow late in the evening on Christmas Day, and more
today, however, I assume you guys probably had Snow in August, so a
white Christmas is probably something you almost always have.
Tom
> Animal House, Caddyshack,
I thought Caddyshack was awful. Never seen Animal House. Watched Avatar
tonight, much better than I expected...it just looked like a computer game
cut scene from the trailers. The visuals are quite remarkable and the whole
thing is a terrific ride...even if the plot has been done a thousand times
before ( and is quite predictable early on ). Well worth a trip to the
flicks for.
It snowed a bit on Xmas eve. Still there's not much here. Not enough to
toboggan on. Everywhere around us seemed to get hit with blizzards.
I thought Avatar was alright. Nothing mindblowing, but worth seeing.
It was back when Tom Hanks used to be a comedian.
The effects are the best I`ve ever seen...it`s hard to actually be impressed
by effects anymore but I was tonight. The story...as I said, been done
before and there are no surprises but it`s such good fun it doesn`t matter.
Animal House is Gold.
Soze shame on you for what you said about Caddyshack :) we agree on so
much music, and our movie taste is so different interesting.
A couple of weeks ago I just purchased a SONY LED HDTV and the pic is
amazing! I also like that the whole TV is less than 2 inches thick.
1. The Exorcist (ATF)
2. The Godfather
3. The Shawshank Redemption
there are a lot more films that I like but, IMHO not one can touch any
of my top three.
Do you like the original Exorcist or 'The version you've never seen' with
that really creepy spiderwalk?
I like both of them and have them both on DVD. It was supposed to be
released on Blu Ray with the disc containing both versions in Sept but
it was delayed. Now they are saying a release date of March 2010 but
only "the Version You Have Never Seen" will be on the disc. There is
talk of a remake written by Blatty (original writer) and being done as
a 3 or 5 part miniseries for cable. Blatty said he has kept it much
like the original but has expanded on parts and no hardcore music
(thank God!!), still classical like the original. I wouldn't mind
seeing it redone but I don't think it could top the original.
On a side note Exorcist 3 is pretty good also, 2 was total crap.

Oklahoma City got 13 inches, I assumed you guys 1000 miles to the
North of that would have 13 feet of snow by now.
So, your mom isn't going to lose her home to a fast moving glacier
then?

Before I was born then.

Yeah, that sounds great.

Maybe someday I will break down and get one.
So far, so good. We've been missed by all the storms. I think that's Mother
Nature's way of saying we're going to get something 'special' instead.
Recorded history doesn't go back that far.

Are you wearing nappies? Going to be a messy evening otherwise....I can
honestly say I`ve never heard any of these songs before in my life. Just
researched the band and they`ve never had a top 200 album in the UK which
could explain why something you may consider a famous radio song is a
complete unknown over here. I do quite like most of it though, not sure it`s
something I`d play a lot but when I`m in the mood I can see this quite
taking me.

They're one of my top bands of any genre.

as if that wasn't obvious enough by now...

Hard to believe. I guess they didn't export well, but they had
massive radio airplay in the 70's into the 80's stateside. Big selling
albums and so on.
But they never played Dust in the Wind or Wayward son? Yep, crapping
myself as I type.
Tom
Got depends?
I don't know why I never bought any albums by them before recently.
I always liked them from the first time I heard the songs.

I missed this when you posted it. It's been right around 4 or 5
degrees the past couple nights. So I guess you'll up there probably
are sitting at about -75 or something. And that would be special. I do
remember about 10 years ago, we had a -27f morning. That was special.

My pappy invented cave paintings.
Tom
Go back and listen to the Pinnacle a few more times. I'll bet you
will want the album someday soon.

-16C at the moment. Aside from one week of frigid death it's been a mild
winter. Of course there's about 4 more months of it to go.

Ian doesn't generally like prog.
Sure, he likes some bands with proggy elements, but not real epic
prog.
Except Jethro Tull, but that's because they're kinda gay.
