He really should. In fact, he should pick up the new album, which I

There are a lot of bands I moderately like that I doubt I'd really
listen to the older albums enough times to justify buying them. The
ones I deem important, I do get to.

As in recently

Mastodon-Remission. Said I'd get to it and I did. Just took a few
years to get around to it.
Kansas-several of their older albums, I have and will get a few more
in the next few weeks.

But for bands like Behemoth, Nile and so many DM bands, I don't like
DM enough to complete it.
Others are on the list, but it may be a while before I get to them.

If you say Celtic Frost, I have heard some songs from their older
days, and don't really like them enough to get to it so quickly. I
believe I'm going to like Triptykon more in any event. Just from the
two songs I have heard.

Ok, listened to some of the songs on this. I do like the older stuff
more. A vote for e. then. Except, I guess he said I'd get into the new
album and ignore the old stuff, so then I guess a vote not for e.
then. This takes me back to the thrash days.

As for the Gothminister, at least it's not CM type vocals. I don't
think I'd buy this but I didn't throw up right away, either.

Can they be found on the usual suspects website, CM or End Records?
Searched these, and only the new album. Also searched Fye and didn't
even find the new album.
I found this listed on e-bay

Sacrifice-Apocalypse Inside for $5.
SACRIFICE SOLDIERS OF MISFORTUNE 2 CD SET NEW IMPORT ! For $13.95
SACRIFICE - FORWARD TO TERMINATION OFFICIAL DCD for $16.95

I guess you trust the sellers or not.

You don't really want to look at Amazon. I see FtT, but at $79.95 for
new and $33 something for used, I think that's just too f'ing high no
matter how good it is.
Of course, I see SoM new for $176 on Amazon. There's other lower
prices for new and used, but looks like the lowest price for new is
just under $50. I think I am with PT on this, it will be essential
when they get re-issued. I can't in good conscience pay that kind of
cash for a CD.

I did see a triple deal for Celtic Frost CD's for about $34.95. A good
deal.
Into the Pandemonium
To Mega Therion
Morbid Tales/Emperor's Return

I see a pretty similar deal with Kreator CD's.

I see the new CD prices for DA aren't very promising, either.
1 frolic for $144 something. And used from $69.

I guess some of this could be had, but I am not going to spend $50 to
$166 for CD's. Not when I could get a 6 pack of CF and Kreator CD's
for about $69 total.

They have been...the ridiculously high price ones are for the original

Dreamweaver by Sabbat used to go for 50 on ebay until it was re-issued, now
you can buy the album cheaply the original copies aren`t worth shit.

Pleasure to Kill - Kreator and Celtic Frost To Mega Therion are about 3

if they can get it.

Yeah, it's about $10-12 each on Amazon, you can order 3 of them
together, and maybe get a small discount or something. I know 3 pounds
is not much in terms of what a CD could cost.

Probably because the demand in the US is almost non-existent for a
lot of older metal. Places just don't bother stocking something that
isn't going to sell much.
However, let Tool release a new album, and everyone will have tons
of copies to sell.

Tom

No disrespect to Tool, but I believe their last album sold over
400,000 copies in the US the first week out. While DA probably sold
500 copies of all their albums in the US for the whole month of
December. If they're lucky.

You know, seeing how I've never heard MT before today, except maybe
if a song or two were on that Comp thing they released on their first
disbanding, it is sort of hard to not think of how much I like
Monotheist, and try to put this in proper perspective. It's certainly
good.
How odd, posting this message as that very song is playing.

Not really remembering many fan comments, but is Monolith sort of
considered a bit of a disappointment to Kansas fans back in the day?
I like it, but it seems a let down compared to most of the other
early Kansas albums I have heard. Even with that, I like On the Other
Side, A Glimpse of Home and Stay Out of Trouble a lot.

In the mainstream it was probably a letdown from POKR, but then most
people only know two songs by the band and their most popular of all
time was on that album. It still charted, although exact sales and
position or whatever I have no idea, as I don't remotely care about
that stuff. I'm sure you could look it up.

From a personal POV, Monolith was my first Kansas as an impressionable
teenager, and it blew my mind. However, if someone put a gun to my
head I'd have to say that Masque is probably their best overall, if
only for The Pinnacle.

I do like it,and Masque as well, even if there isn't songs I
remember hearing lots of times. I do remember hearing more than 2
songs by Kansas on the radio as a kid, though. They still play Wayward
Son and Dust in the Wind about the most. Although I often hear POKR a
lot as well. This still, only times I am driving is when I have the
radio on.
I even heard a part of Song for America on the Weather Channel
during the local update part.

Charting or not doesn't mean an album is well received by fans. Look
at that last Tool album, which if I remember charted #1 with 400,000
sold or something, and I believe many fans dislike it, or just
moderately like it.

Tom

Actually I don't care all that much about that either. All I hope is
band I like to sell enough to release new albums that get CD releases.
I know a lot of the bands I like and buy barely sell anything in the
US. 300-2000 copies is often the range. (first week out) I know they
have to do more worldwide.

Playlist today, probably not well received by some, at least some
albums.

Kansas-Masque
Dead Soul Tribe-The Dead Word
Kamelot-The Black Halo
Leaves Eyes-My Destiny
Black Tape for a Blue Girl-Halo Star
Celtic Frost-Morbid Tales.

Although Bomber thinks I am wearing out MT, I have only gave it
about 6 listens of late. Hardly wearing it out I don't think.
Maybe tomorrow is a day to pull out Nostra for the maybe 13th total

Funny, you don't accuse me of wearing out Masque, and how many times
have I listed that in the past 2-3 months?

Let's see, playlist today.

Megadeth-Endgame
Insomnium-Across the Dark
Swallow the Sun-New Moon

I actually like her performance and was talking about that The fact
that she is nude is no big deal to me. I would be just as impressed if
she did the routine with clothes on because she is that good. Her
moves are very well executed and her routine is original. One of the
other dancers told me she has had dance and ballet training and I
believe it to be true. She asked me if there was anything else that I
had from Priest that she could use (she had never heard of them) and I
told her that generally Priest do not make danceable music and that
POE was sort of an anomaly. I let her borrow Turbo to see if she can
use anything from it. I figure songs like Locked In, Parental
Guidance, RYAATW can be used for entertainment in dancing. Although if
she is as good as I think she is she can should be able to make
routines to match anything. i cant date her because I just cant date
girls that young, shes 23. Women in their twenties, IMO are usually
too immature still and too bubbly.

That rule would exclude almost all college co-ed's.

Not to get too graphic, but I knew a dancer who once was a ballet

She uses the original slower paced version on POE and she does a slow

dollars at her feet like crazy, some even drop fives and tens.

Before this descends into a discussion of past strippers we all
liked to watch, perhaps a play list.

Today.

Blood Ceremony-St. debut. (can't for the life of me remember the band
members names. Sorry e.)
VAST-April
Autumn-Altitude (couldn't remember names here, either)
Augury-Fragmentary Evidence
Overkill-Immortalis

Skipping songs on Watershed? Hm ... the only lesser track on the
entire album is Burden IMO. At first I dismissed Hex Omega as a GR b-

A relatively new friend of mine gave me the whole "I've heard of
Priest, but dont know what they play" rap, so I made her a mix cd.
She loves the slow and mid tempo songs. She liked Turn on Your light
so much that she actually went online and knew it was a bonus track
and it's history, which blew me away. Anyway even non metal fans can
find something to appreciate in Priest's varied catalog.

It is a fantastic album, however, as I said, with each album, I grow
more impatient with Akerfelt growling at me. So in response I usually
skip the two songs with a lot of growling.

Here's the impression that bonus track made on me. "what's turn on
your light"? I couldn't name which of the CD's it's on. Matter of
fact, I don't listen to any of the bonus songs whenever I listen to
the album. It's about the same way with any other re-mix, remaster I
buy from almost any band. I usually don't listen to the bonus stuff
not included on the original album. At least not very often.
But all the more power to her. I hope she buys several re-master
CD's from JP.

It`s on Defenders of the Faith and I always skip it as well, it`s an awful
track. Have to say I find it quite apparent why most of Priest`s bonus
tracks weren`t on the albums in the first place!

I like the song, its emotional and has passion and nice guitar work.

I agree, but I can see where others would not like it. At any rate I
still thought it was cool she looked it up and being a non metal fan
liked any priest at all. It's not just a testament to her (obviously)
good taste but also to diversity of the metal gods.

Is Coil the other one? As it is, I always play Coil twice, three
times when I listen to the album.

I know what it is, I just discount the "conspiracy theory" aspect of
it.

If I was a conspiracy nut, I'd think someone got to me, injected me,
or spiked a drink with something to destroy my pancreas so I would get
diabetes and be sickly for the rest of my life.

Tom

I don't put much stock in conspiracy theories.

See you on Dec. 22, 2012.

Feel the same way. I don't think I played any of those bonus tracks
more than a few times.

So, I guess I am going to have to dig out the Defenders remaster and
listen to the song to see what you're talking about, because I really
don't remember it by title alone.

Today

Kansas-Song For America
Insomnium-Across the Dark
Metal Church-This Present Wasteland
Black Tape for a Blue Girl-This Lush Garden (or something like that, a
bit too much ambient, and could use some upbeat songs.)
Draconian-Turning Seasons Within
Sirenia-13th Floor

NP Kansas-Masque. For the 30th-40th-50th time in the past 3 to 4
months. Yeah, it's that good.

Ugh. No thanks.

Deliverance is their weakest album, and their best ones (MAYH, Still
Life, BWP) have a good mix of both.

If you want all clean vocals, listen to another band ;)

i almost forgot to mention the best thing about Kansas is Yngwie's cover
of CoWS :-)

now that's a guitar solo.

Ynwies solos are too full of bs. His music could sound so much better
if he wasn't so full of himself and let the music breathe. But his ego
is too big and he has to solo every 5 seconds. I stopped listening to
Ynwie years ago.

He wants to be able to rake it over the coals with a degree of
authenticity :-)

I tried to post a comment, but exceeded the post limit. Imagine
that. I don't really remember this song well, and as I said before I
don't listen to the bonus songs on this, or most remaster albums I
have bought that have them. Usually the bonus songs are no where near
the quality of the main album songs.

Call it an experiment. Personally I think that Akerfelt writes
interesting enough lyrics that if he were to do a full album of all
clean vocals it could be very good.
