When that happens, you should never acknowledge your ignorance. Instead
you should arrogantly take the position that you are correct, regardless of
the fact that your position defies common sense.
Here's an example of how I responded in multiple audio newsgroups on
3/29/2005, when I was confronted with such a situation.
"No, the problem is that you can't see that there is a difference between
a speaker cone driven by a single complex source vibrating at multiple
frequencies and, and a speaker cone vibrating at one frequency while the
speaker is being moved by an entirely different source.
Despite the fact that I am technically inept when it comes to
science/engineering/physics, that line of bull shit at least allowed me to
save face among the most ignorat readers in those audio newsgroups.
Hopefully that or a similar approach will also work for you.
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
